I was bidding on this 1978 Biesemeyer (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2411443572&category=31270) And was high bid until a "new" bidder came in and started bidding crazy. I think that the high bidder is an alias for the seller. The seller has emailed me numerous times and told me that it's worth so much and I should keep bidding   (ROFLMAO!)
He says that the 650hp engine is "worth" $15000.00.....(another ROFLMAO) and that the boat will do 120mph+ (uh huh...). I see no whirlaway in the pics (more $$ later) and I see some plates that are WAAAYYYY out of adjustment. Also a wing that is useless on this particular boat (IMO), and a ski tow? Almost thinking that someone don't know WTF they are doing and don't know what he has or what it's worth....
What do you folks think? What's it worth?

This 1987 Biesemeyer (http://www.boattraderonline.com/caddetail.html?/ad-cache/6/2/2/46343122.htm) seems like a much better deal.

BBT's..It says he will sell less motor, Isn't your motor 650hp.... Yep...But the guy wants to wait till the end of auction to deal minus motor. And, I think he's gonna want an arm and a leg for the boat....even minus motor.

Looks like it met the reserve, so it will sell with motor....

The 78 looks like one of Dwayne Bolton's Spitfires though?. I think the 87 is a better deal by far!. Just my .02.....

Looks like it met the reserve, so it will sell with motor.... Well, if ya saw the email that was sent to me about the "lowered" reserve and the subsequent new high bidder (coincidently has the same zip code as the seller)...... Well, let's just say that I think that the "high bidder" that met the reserve is an alias for the seller. Look at the bid history.... My highest bid was $8000.00 and then someone came in and bid $9500.00? How's that work since ebay only takes it up a minimum amount each bid in order to beat the other bids (up to your maximum bid amount)????

What's up with that?  I'm gonna call about it tonight.

Yeah, I read that too, if it was me, I wouldn't bother with the motor, seen to many guys that just throw junk together just to sell it!..

BBT -
I cannot tell for sure but the 87 in FLa looks to me to have a modified splash guard....photo is too small.
That could make it an Eagle/Double Eagle Hull
I will email my friend (sswannabe) and get his opinion....He has something closer to that.
Otherwise, the 87 looks like a Bezer (cut down) but we would need some better pics....can you email the seller and get some pics??

BBT,
That 87 is less motor for $6500....that is not exactly a smokin deal...
And that 78 is not your race type deal....I'd be curious to see what he wanted less motor for that.
Tony is right about the crack pipe....

That dude needs to put down the crack pipe. Hey Tony, that's EXACTLY what I was thinking. For that amount of $$ he can keep it. His last email said that the current "high bidder" (Let's emphasize the word "High" here) has seen the boat and is bidding on it to resell it.  Why? So he can lose $$ ROFLMAO!!

[/QB]Since I am an avid Ebayer, I was curious how you know this? I have been outbid a few times. When the item lists again, I emailed the seller asking if the high bidder didn't pay, and they mail me back and say they had more than one item, BULLSHIT. So I was curious how you found out their zip code, could be useful to me.

Brian [/QB]Well, in this case, the seller is in Portland, and the Sellers business is in Portland(name is in the pics) and I looked that up online in the various business lookups. The "high" bidder has a zip code in his name....so it wasn't that difficult to compare them. Also, the "high" bidder also has 1 feedback...coincidentally from the seller in this auction. All sounds kinda fishy to me.....

Ok thanks,
I agree with you, especially when the ****er is goading you on to bid higher. WTF is up with that?

I would report that crap to ebay. You know they don't want people like that selling on their site!

The yellow deal is a "Spitfire". Better built and safer than any two Biesemeyers' put together!
The very best for PS or KRR barr none ( if keppin' yer ass alive means anything to ya).

That 87 boat looks like a bezer in the back or maybe a long decker picture is kindy of blurry, I called a buddy on the east coast and hes getting some info for me on that boat.

Just got home and checked my email....he emailed me again about that yellow boat. Says he's got a buyer that knows what they're worth and he's buying it to resell (good luck). Told him my offer still stands....firm. I'd give him $8000.00 turnkey or $4000.00 minus motor. I would pay more minus motor but it has no whirlaway...more $$.

I have seen this boat up close about 8 years ago it was not in good shape!! the floors were very soft and the stringers were not far behind. all of the through bolts were pulling through the glass and wood. it used to be owned by a used car salesman. I belive that it was taken in on trade back then.

The ebay practice you're referring to is called shill bidding. Ebay doesn't tolerate it. I'd report it if you have any reasonable proof.
Here's an ebay link Shill Bidding (http://pages.ebay.com/help/policies/seller-shill-bidding.html)
