Working hard to get the production version of the SL44 SUPER-LITE done. Here is a few progress pics ,about two weeks from paint. Keep in mind the pics are the rough welding as the finish welding is not done yet. Plan on being on the water the first of March to dial it in . The Prototype has been retired . We learned a lot with the first hull and I really believe this new hull will be perfect.
Will be at Havasu for desert Storm for demo rides.
Thanks Wayne

I would love to see some new technology put into flat bottoms.
A Cored-Resin Infusion, or alloy T-deck. Sweet.

I just wanted to add, although I would love a test ride, I would have no use for a boat that large.

what horsepower and speeds did you see with the prototype?? why paint it, just polish it out
Too much surface to polish ,tried it on other boats.
we saw 115 mph at Pittsburg Ca on 4-5 ft water on the delta. Ran from London Bridge to Havasu Springs and back at 100 mph at 5200 rpm. Motors were a pair of
850 hp using Arneson Drives.Did not take it to its full potential ,had a lot of work to do on the bottom to make it handle perfect. I expect it to run 120 + with the new step system and with way better ballance than the prototype
had. The proto type was the test mule I knew we could not get it perfect the first time ,I have never heard of anyone that has. Using the Teague Platnum Drives on this boat. Need to see how a brovo based drive would perform.
Thanks Wayne

If you want a bad ass aluminum trailer, call Pacific Boat Trailers in Chino Ca. 909 902 0094. They build all welded channel frames. No bolt together pieces of crap. Disk brakes, the whole 9. Also check out pacificboat trailers.com. Contact Robert. By the way, thats a cool boat you are building.

Looks great Wayne. I like how you cut the deck height down.
I think the Bravo's will be a better overall package too.
#6's on boat number three?

Wayne, out of curiosity, how does the wieght of your boat compare with a similar fiberglass hull?
Best regards.

The hull weight was 3960 lbs .I expect the final rigged weight to be aprox 7600 lbs . The Prototype was 7450 fully rigged .

RIM , the boat looks awesome. The length/weight ratio is great if you can keep it under 7000 lbs. My friend's 34' fiberglass project [ with foam core ] came in at 6000 flat with a single big block ,for comparison .

I just wanted to clarify that you think he should come in at less than 7000 pounds because your buddy's boat came in at 6000? I would say that's going to be tough when your buddy's boat has 10 less feet of hull and one big block (and drive unit) less. Not to mention all of the other stuff that goes along with a second engine.

I based my guessing on other tin boats I've come across , like this one.>

I'm sure Wayne is shooting for shaving some weight , cause he wants to go FAST :) . He's probably having a spartan interior as well , compared to my friend's plastic tub that has a lot of wood inside  .

Happened to know this locally built yacht , that's pretty light for its size.
If I won the lotto , I'd be all over it , since it's a fraction [ asking price is under 1 M ] of the cost of building one ;)

Dam Wayne that thing looks killer. The "prototype" looked smooth as silk running around at the OSO race at Lake Mead. I can't wait to see the new one at Desert Storm. I will definitally be in line for a demo ride.

How much does the yellow/blue/grey boat weigh? Is that yellow cat in the background the one on an impound lot in Canada?

They are the ones were at the repo depot , yes . Last I've heard , Dan [ owner of the two boats ] sold the 50' cat to somebody in the southern states . Also I've heard the new owners want to put turbines in it . The engine bay was too narrow for huge blown engines .It may show up sometime this summer , at some poker runs
