Hey all! Been lurking for years and figured I would finally join in the madness. I've met many of you over the years at different shops, races, river, etc, but never logged on. River Dave, met you at the filibertos in Encinitas one night a few months back, as I recall you wrote a pretty funny thread about it...... Any way, on with the question. My brother and I are putting together a CP 19 gullwing and we're stumped on a steeing wheel. It seems Formuling is out of bus and no one carries a 12" wheel any more. Any suggestions? What are you guys running for wheels or what are they putting on new low profile jets? The 13" wheels just seem to big. Thought about hitting up the local sand rail shops to see if they have anything. Any suggestions??? Thanks, Jason

That looks pretty sweet. Seems like a lot of guys are going to the all billet look. My only drawback to going that route would be that we spend most of our time just north of Needles in the summer, you know, where it's 118 degrees in the shade most of the time. I would have to waste most of my cold beer on the wheel just so I could grab onto it. That looks bad ass but I was hoping to find a leather wrapped one somewhere like the old Formuling.

I've had in some heat (not 118 in the shade) and it didnt get to where you could grab it

Scroll Down to Steering Wheels (http://www.rexmar.com/sections.htm) and have fun shopping. Rex has everything you will need, wheels, adapters, hubs etc........

If you find something you like we can likely wrap it in leather for you. We mfg the Impy wheels but the smallest we make is 13.5" dia.
Grant Formula J is a possibility, not fancy but is 11 1/2". http://shopping.rexmar.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY&Category_Code=grantfj
Lecarra is also a possibility for 12" if he has any (been hard to get).

I read in this thread (http://www.***boat.com/forums/showthread.php?t=102583&highlight=morg) that Morg makes steering wheels.

You can get a Grant Classic in an 11 1/2" wheel. Just got one for Christmas, I sure like it better than the big wheel that was in there.

I got my 12 inch wheel from Rex. I had to get a new adaptor as well. I had a formuling as well.

Here is a pic. It is not that fancy, but it is really comfortable.

BBB, the bracket is under the drivers seat. The lever comes right against the edge of the seat. If I was keeping the boat, I would fix that plate where the lever used to be.

Cole1313, by the looks of your wheel, you have the one I want. I guess they don't make it any more and Formuling sold the mold (I guess it's a mold?) to Grant, who proceeded to discontinue it. Hopefully I'll find something that'll work. Thanks for the options guys............... I'll let you know what I find and post some pics when it is done. I think I'm leaning towards this sand rail fromula 1 style wheel that I found at a shop in Phoenix, then I'll fab a custom adapter. This CP is super clean so i don't want to butcher it with an ugly wheel!!!!!!!!

A couple more choices in the 12" dia.
Covico 9-bolt, Stainless (http://shopping.rexmar.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=227202&Category_Code=covico9bolt)
Covico 3-bolt, Stainless (http://shopping.rexmar.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY&Category_Code=covico3bolt)
The Covicos have stainless spokes and dense foam grips. We can wrap over the top of the grips with leather too if someone desired that.
