I bought this 77 Sleekcraft Aristocrat about 18 years ago. It was a basket case when I got it,
I gutted it and redid everything, used the hell out of it for 5-6 years then sold it and bought
a 26' Sleek (My uncle was a Sleekcraft dealer in the 70s-80s I spent as much time as I could at his
place as a youngster and have had a woody for Sleeks every since) I always regretted getting rid
of the Aristocrat because it was so goddem much fun to drive.
Cut to Aug '05 ...I was looking at Boat Trader on line one night and saw a Sleekcraft like my
first one for sale in California, I clicked on the thumbnail and about shit! it was my old boat!!
I called the guy, made a deal, and two days later my brother and I headed for Cali to get the boat.
Someone had taken the Black Max off and replaced it with an old 125 inline six Merc. Cosmeticly it
looked as good as it did when I sold it, but structurally it was in pretty bad shape and the trailer
was pretty ratty. I brought it home, gutted it and started the resurrection. I Replaced the transom,
(adding knees to give it more strength) the bulkheads, gunwales and the back of the dash.
I replaced all of the gauges, electrical, rigging, hardware etc and hung a 200HP Merc on it,
and also rebuilt the trailer. I completed it one year to the day, from the day I brought it home.
(If I was still in fighting condition, it probably would have only taken me a few weeks!)
Some of you might have seen this boat before, the couple I bought it from, lived in Parker, and now live in Northridge.

Thank you! There is a lot more to the story that makes it even more amazing, but I wanted to keep it under 20 pages:D
That's a nice one, and I hear ya! I still have my mid 80's Youngblood. When I got it, it was sitting on the ground with green water in it. 90% of the wood rotten, helm ripped out of the dash, holes drilled in the floor (guy had some good friends, lol ;)). Totally rerigged it, had a jack plate custom built, and new everything else. I even had to scrap up (build) a trailer for it. I'm gonna get it back out. I was having handling problems at 80 and gave up and went on to something else.
What is freeboard? The Original Forkin' Crazy!

Thought i saw it pulling a skier around the lake while was floating drinking beers:)

I hope not. The boat is supposed to be in storage in Parker. If it was then at least they fixed the timing advance linkage. I would venture to say the boat you saw was the Haig's Force (Australian made) red outboard.
I have seen 3 different GMT Mod-v's over the years. The one STV Keith is talking about has been for sale in the boattrader for quite some time. It started out with power, but for the last 4-6 months has been advertised less power.
My boat was originally laid up as a v-drive, but then built as an outboard. It is a completely different animal then the Mod-v. It was used for training for the Catalina Ski Race, and has made more trips to Catalina then most offshore boats.

Haven't tried an ET3 (or even seen one that I know of), but the RE-3's always perform well on my boat. I also have a 29 that I got new, and it was cryo'd. No problems with that one so far. Of course, I ran the 27 way more the last 2 years as it accelerates harder and I couldn't turn the 29 up hard enough. The 27 I bought used from R&R, and it was a virgin. Ran good for a while. :)
