If you just let water sit on it for awhile the glue will start to release. Then pull! hard.

HomeDepot sells it. Most hardware stores will have it as well.

. . . or any other paint store. If you go to Home Depot it will be in the paint department with other solvents.

What glue I couldn't get off by hand, I sanded. Used a waterproof outdoor glue from home depot and deluxe carpet from west marine. Came out soft and sweet!

I put that deluxe carpet from West Marine in my last boat with 3m glue. Great carpet and was easy to work with. Going back for the same next week for the Southwind.

Went back down with marine grade carpet was about $9 a yard and 2 big ass cans of 3m glue. Seein as how I got mad skills the finish job looks pro.:rollside:

i worked in an upholstery shop and best bang for the buck is gasoline removes the glue fast and easy. if glue is on a nice painted surface use mineral spirits can be bought at a hardware store. on the glue go to an upholstery shop in the neihborhood and find out where they buy materials. should take about a gallon for an 18 ft boat. it should be a contact adhesive so apply it to both sides wait till it is no longer wet to the touch and stick it together normally 10 to 15 min wait depending on the tempature, if you have an old automotive siphon feed paint gun you can shot it though that just dont expect to use it for paint again or use a paint brush but i recommend the spray gun even if you have to go find a cheap one at harbor freight or a garage sale. dont use gasoline if your going to use the heat gun aswell. duh!!! but i had to say it. you just never know. i would suggest diesel fuel. it too has the solvant properties, but a much higher flash point. SAFER.
