Thinking of going up to vegas for new years and was thinking of taking the boat with, figure it will save me money to be on the lake instead of the casinos. Let me know if anyone has been or knows if there will be anyone there at all. I dont want to be the only ass there! :)

Done it for years. Very, very smooth, but very, very cold. Take a jacket

Well it just snowed a couple days ago for the first time in about 5 years, it's kinda chili, though i'm looking at the lake right now, its sunny, little to no wind, glass, and if the weather turns to s*** you always have vegas to fall back on.

Freeking cold but calm and glass if there is no wind. Mostly fisherman this time of year. Where are you launching? The lake is down about 100 feet. Some of the ramps are jacked. Check with the locals to get the conditions.

We used to frequent the lake in December, actually we went out on Saturday and it's always calm, pristine and yes COLD. Take a jacket, pack the coffee toddies and a beanie. You'll need it. But you'll have almost the whole beautiful lake to yourself.....enjoy it!

I still take my boat out about every 2 weeks. Its cold. It is cool to be on such a quiet, massive lake by yourself.
Let me know what days you will be out, and maybe I will put my boat in the water.
You will need to launch at Lake Mead Marina. It is the best place to launch if you dont want to tear your prop off. I think a few of the others are closed anyways.

LMAO, they still call it "Hendertucky" out there:D We almost moved there instead of Phoenix. There are some nice areas in Henderson.
What is the local buzz on the fate of the lake? I know they are extending the inlets which suggests that they are worried about the water dropping to record lows. I think it looks pretty bad but was hoping otherwise.

We need 5-7 yrs of above average snow fall on the west side of the Rockies to be back up to nomal.
Lucky for us, the Rockies are getting tons and tons of snow this yr. The lake should be up a good 10ft if all goes well this yr.
People are a bunch of naysayers about Mead. It is still about 11 times the size of Havasu. It is a giant lake even at its low level.

No question. I love that lake. The problem I have is that we launch out of the AZ ramps. Both Temple Bar and South Cove are in bad shape now and may be unusable if the water goes down another 10 feet, which it is projected to do by the NPS. They are filling Powell so even with the snow pack they may short-change Mead. I hope you are right. 10' up would help alot.
