Lake Mohave is about 60 minutes away and they have some dry camping on the lake. Find your cove, throw a tent and set up your BBQ.
Lake Mead is about 2.5 hours from Havasu outside of Vegas.
Parker is just on the other side of the dam south of Havasu.
Have fun and see more than just Havasu is what I would recommend.

Like they said. Late May is starting to get real warm but the water hasn't turned into bath water yet. Camping........ Cattail Cove, Sandpoint Marina, Crazyhorse, Black Meadows, Park Moabi or you can find boat-in camping spots.
Also as Dilligaf stated Mohave is an hour away. Lake might actually be better than Havasu but citywise Havasu is better. In my opinion anyway.

Don't forget Havasu Landing across the lake.Kind of cool to look across at the city during the day and night with the lights. Not exactly sure what thier camping facilities are,i know they have RV spots & mobiles for rent.

If you are going to camp i personally like Park Moabi the best. They have private peninsulas you can get a hold of and you dont get much noise from surrounding camps. Lots of privacy, private beach etc... Plus if you are driving from the 40 its right off the freeway! You may want to call soon though because if you are talking the end of may and in (memorial aka beginer boat week) then you are going to have a hard time finding good spots. We reserved our park moabi spots in october.

May...The weather SUCKS! The water SUCKS! The crowds SUCK! I wouldn't go there on a bet!
Ok, Ok...It's my favorite time of year there and i don't want it to get too crowded. :D Promise to not tell anyone else though.

If you like to gamble a bit stay in Laughlin for a night, play on the river during the day or hit Lake Mohave.
