If you have access to a MAC with OSX. I use Handbrake: http://handbrake.m0k.org/
It's free and rips and converts DVDs with no problem. I have a 30G iPod and it works fine.
They currently are working on a PC version, but there is no information on a release date.
Good luck.

I'm out the door too, but I did find a program that runs about $20. I downloaded a free version that let me put clips on the pod. It's on my other laptop. When I get home in the am I'll give you more info. Unless somebody has a better answer by then.

Just google: Rip DVD software.
I just got a Sony PSP and I just transferred Star Wars to my Memory Stick on my PSP.
You have to rip it from the DVD to your hard drive then use another program to transfer it.
I am on a Mac and am using:
mac the Ripper (free)
and iPSP ($20)
to complete the process.

How and why do people like to watch movies on those itty bitty ipod and psp screens? Am I missing something here?

Probably plugging it into the onboard DVD player in the truck. That is what I plan on doing.

airplanes, back seats, share with the kids, etc.
The PSP is cool because I can get on ***boat and chat (wireless internet access), I can play SOCOM multiplayer online, I can store all of my photos and music and I can take porn with me anywhere! :D
