I took my father out to March to get a close-up look at some history - nice day!
He learned to fly in one of these BT-13 Stearman

Eventually became A/C Commander/Flight Instructor in one of these - B-17

Then moved on to these little babies -B29 Superfortress.

I was 6 months old in a car seat and he took me up in a civil version of this - Twin Beech.

Great time listening to him talk about his adventures.

That place is way cool.
A few months back they didn't have the rope up around that B-17. I could look in the tailgunner section thru the bellows.
Man, the wear and tear, and to think about the history of some dude sitting/laying in there, blasting away at planes. Unreal.

I live a few miles away too and have visited more than once. It's a great way to spend the afternoon, and my 12 year old nephew loves the place. We rode in the "G-force flight simulator" which was pretty cool, and he learned alot about what planes are really like and how they work.

What a great commuter to John Wayne that thing would make!

See if you can get in there and blast a couple of DHL planes just for the hell of it....
Thanks

Yep, that place is cool if you love aviation. Twice a year, they have open plane days, and let you go up in those planes. I have pics. of the kids sitting in the Sr-71, and climbing through the B-52 was way cool.

Man, in the mid-late 70’s and early 80’s.
Seeing the ominous wings of the B-52’s pass overhead, feeling the house rattle. All hours, day and night.
Those six B-52’s sitting at the end of the runway; fueled and ready to rock 24/7....waiting for “the”call.
Good times fo’ sure……that coldwar.
