Hey GofastRacer ... I talked to Joey at Red Rock last weekend. He was laying up a new D'Cucci for an Eastern customer. He also said that they were re-visiting a reinforced add on cockpit idea that they had started a couple of years ago. This of course to meet APBA's requirements for 2004. We'll see. I had my Biesemeyer filled with foam on the sides when they mandated that back in '97, then they withdrew having to do that. Now for 2004, they only want the driver side filled and the front. That way it will float right side up. Go figure.

I remember when Don built that cockpit a while back. At the time someone was working on a floatation device that if you crashed, it would bring you right side up. But when Val Wheeler died, the project got put on the back burner...Was Don back from Mexico yet??...

Yes .. he was back and looked good. As I mentioned early, I had the Biesemeyer stored at Brother-in-law's over the winter,(he owns part of it now anyway). He lives in Apple Valley CA. We drained the water our of the block, but I didn't think about the water in the Dan Olson cooler. It must of froze and busted the cooler up inside 'cuz just cranking the engine over pumped oil out of the water pump. So I got some caps from Joey (which I need to return) to block off the cooler so we could use the boat last weedend.

Cool, glad he's doing good, I'll have to give him a call..That is a bummer about the cooler, I have to get end caps for mine since it was run in salt water at one time and ther'e corroded, last time out, I saw traces of water in the oil, not good!!.. Should have mine ready in about 3 or 4 weeks I hope, gettin antsy!.......
