So I was drinking with some friends at a christmas party and trying to decide what to do on New years day. After tossing back a few, we concluded than none of us had a running boat to bring out and race at CFW. However, between the three of us, we had the parts, a small amount of knowledge, and a little bit of time.
We had a vision...............It looked something like this:jawdrop:

.
.
I have a race car with a motor, Rick has an old Brendella tunnel v-drive boat under a tarp in his yard, and Joe has the week off.

While this will not be the cleanest motor installtion in the world...........We are finishing it up today and between the 3 of us we had every single part- hose-bolt-tool, and fitting and have not had to buy anything yet to put this together!!!! Oh, except Pepsi to go with the Crown Royal.:) :)

Killer Project! Hats off to you guys! Cant wait to see it at CFW! So who gets to drive? Your story reminds me of when we were running an AA/FC with an iron 426 and everyone chipped in on a Keith Black block and heads out of John Collins old JVC sponsored Datsun 280z Funny Car that he punched through the guardrail with. We worked all night, fueled by Southern Comfort and Diet Coke (sorry, all we had) and got her done at 3am, the day before qualifying at Fremont at the Golden Gate Nationals (who remembers those days?). We had a gallon of Methanol, 3 of Nitro, and the rest of the Southern Comfort to fire it with, so we dumped ALL of it in the tank (after refreshing the drinks) and lit her up. Sounded so good, we went out in the court in the industrial area we were in and did a burn out. Unfotunately, we didn't realize we shattered all the windows that were behind the car. We were in such a hurry to get it back in the shop and shut the door, we missed all the commotion and cops outside! Man those were good times, thanks for bringing some of them back!:D

A number of years ago there was a guy who used to run a Brendella tunnel at CFW & a couple of NJBA races, that looked a whole bunch like that deal.
Was it you guys?
Was the boat purchased in the last 4 or 5 years?

AHHHHHH the wifey thing . . . . . . . I remember those days! Used to be wine women and song, then it was the honey do list, yard work, spending the holidays with the in-laws, and selling my precious chrome and aluminum parts at swap meets because the lazy POS wouldn't work . . . . . now I buy what I want when I want and do what I want . . . . yes it was worth losing everything over in the big D just to go to places like CFW on NYD . . . . . . man, I feel for you dude and will have a special shot just for you! Happy New Year man :D

This morning we go to the water for testing. Got it fired lastnight, and blew the posters off the walls and damaged the skylights in my shop, oh well.;) It fired on the first crank, and sounded real good.

Boat sounded real nice out there today, were you able to get a good pass in that water, we left as you were getting wet, too windy!

Badburn
01-01-2007, 08:58 PM
the water was pretty bad today, Rick got a decent pass at the end of the day, but we still didnt get to open it up. That boat has no down pedal to keep it in the water when you throttle it. quite scary if you ask me, But we had a great time. Good to see some old faces and some new ones too.:) Ill post pics later.

Different Bill.................. This guy lives in Auburn and loaned us the oil pan for the build.
Here is the only pic I have been able to come up with (steal)so far... Our video camera man (Mopar Bill) drank all the Crown Royal while we were running the boat and couldnt keep the camera steady enough to see the boat on the video.......LOL Good times.

Thanks dog. :) We had a lot of fun doing this project. Were talking about taking it out one more time since the water was so bad on NYD. Plus we didnt get the video we wanted. After that, the glory is over and we get the job of putting the stuff back where it came from.
Rick is going to take what we learned from this and use it to build a permanent blower motor for that boat.
