trying to find photo's of my father in laws B-17 he flew in WW II. His plane was called "Chute the works". He was stationed in Snetterton England. There was even a book written about his air group called "the Snetterton Falcons". Its out of print and I cant find it on Amazon. He was shot down over Germany and was a POW for 9 months. He is suffering from Alzheimers and wanted to but together a brief history and give it to him and the family before he passes away. Any history would be really cool as well.
If you PM me I can give the tail numbers, IMCO, and other info.

My grandfather served. He was a pilot. Len Wright. He passed away about 7 years ago. But my mom is working on finding some things out, with someone in Redlands. The stories that unfold are amazing!

You guys are amazing. Someone asks for a search of something that occured long before computers came around and you guys find it. Just to have those photos available is a feat in itself. Most people from that era never got into the internet or computers and I would think that without history buffs and afficianodos you never would see those photos in a public forum.

He flew Beaufighters and Mosquitoes. His full name is Leonard Charles Edward Wright.
Squard 144th and at one point joined up with 143th on a bombing mission.
He moved on to become a deep sea diver.

Very cool. They were in the fight a lot longer than we were; from essentially the late 1930's through 1945

About WWII? Where to start...Some great info on the web. My dad was a bomber pilot so I was always "around" the stories and the talk. Just kinda seems natural to know some stuff, I guess.

where did you find that photo? I can't see the tail number. He flew tail number 43-37608. Unless the records have several "chute the works".

A good source of info would be to check reunion sites for the above. Although there's not alot of guys left, there still are site dedicated to squadrons and bomb groups.
