I talked to Chris form Poker Run West, at the Boat Show and he said the Cat Attack is June 16th weekend, and the Fire Craker in Tahoe is July 1.

The Shasta Photo Shoot is the 16th. This may be a good weekeng to do the Cat Attack do too smaller crowds. I will be there both weekend so either is good for me. Other thing to keep in mind is over the 4th the cops will be in full force, and could crack down on anyone laying down alot of runs.

Hey Chris, good to hear from you again. I hope to get out to Ming sometime this season to watch you guys run.
The boats performance has been good. But I have been struggling with failing oil rings after about 30 hours every year so have been refreshening the motor every winter for the past several years. (Had to replace the block and pistons last winter. I went with a smaller bore size then). The motor is out again now with a new motor builder and he has determined that the long 4.625" stroke in a 10.200" tall deck block puts too much side load on the pistons (even with the long rods) causing them to rock in the cylinders and making the rings fail. He didn't see any signs of detonation to cause the rings to fail. I'm looking into replacing the crank now with a shorter stroke unit and down sizing the cubes in order to get the rings to last. I'm having a tough time affording to pull the motor every year and rebuilding it. Other than that it performs very well even with the excessive oil consumption. This motor builder thinks it was just a bad combination from the start. He says this is why all the major marine blower motor builders like Teague, Phaff, etc. go with shorter stroke motors. Live and learn. This has been a very expensive lesson :confused:
Let me know if you hear of anyone that might want to buy a perfectly good LA Enterprise billet crank with a 4.625" stroke. This motor builder says it ought to work just fine with a taller deck block or in a normally aspirated drag race application. Good luck at the track this season. Keith

Wow sorry to hear about the engine troubles Keith but it sounds like your engine builder is on top of it. Ive has a few expensive lessons here as well but life goes on.:D Im really looking forward to next season,I made all kinds of changes so it should be interesting, more than anything i just want to enjoy myself.

My sons B-day on the 13th and my daughters B-day in on the 23rd, now throw Fathers Day and the Cat Attack in between them and it is just two much stuff in to short of a span for me. Hope all you cat attackers can join in the fun. Last year was a blast and the article in Extreme Boats was great. There will be an article in a national magazine this year as well with more pictures and less of my dialogue.
This year we will do the photo shoot with the heli about 11, have a lunch stop and then all are off at their own pace to hit the rest of the card stops on the poker run.
We plan on having an 8x10 photo for each registered boat at the cocktail party at Bridge Bay Saturday at 7pm and everyone will also get a cd with a few hundred pictures of the event.
Jones Valley Resort is our official connection for Houseboat rentals so contact them at 877-4-shasta for reservations. We can shoot video from the houseboat so bring your cameras and put someone on the roof.
Cost for the whole deal is only $100.00 and includes the 8x10 photo, cd, one poker hand and the cocktail party.

Last year we had about 35 boats participate as many of you know or read about in Extreme Boats Magazine. Any cat attackers who want to get involved with us this year will need to pre-register so we make sure we have enough helicopter time, photo printing capability and food for the awards party etc.
