Anyone care for a 1000 HP Lamborghini Marine Engine?

WOW. 19k for that motor is a steal. A stock rebuild on a 12 cylinder Lambo will run over 20k easily. That would be nice to put into a Countach or Diablo.

Pretty close. I rebuilt an Aston Martin six cylinder that cost over 24 thousand . The block was corroded away from electrolysis and had to be replaced at the cost of 12 grand. That kind of blew the guys budget..... But he paid, he wanted to do the car up right. He later sold the car for over 200 k so he wasn't hurt.....

Never abused, ha..... I'd venture to say once you put a motor in a boat, its being abused, no matter how you drive it.
Good luck keeping that pig maintained. Once you get over the "wow" factor of having a Lamborghini V-12 in your ride, you then have to get over the fact that it is ugly and will break down all the time....no thanks, that thing will be hard to GIVE away.
Didnt Don Johnson have a Scarab with twin Lambo V-12's back in the day.... I dont know why or how I remember that:)

Just talked to a friend who has a 88 Countach and a 92 Diablo . You'd be looking closer to 60K [cdn that is] for a full rebuild ,according to him. That marine engine would be a steal if it was for real . Lots of scams going on out of europe . He was bidding on a late Deomaso Pantera [ has a 70's already ] and got a scam warning from ebay on it  . Friend of mine had a Maserati Montreal V-8 engine kicking around in his hangar for a long time . He sold it to some guys who put it in a small open style ski boat . Would like to see that one day on the river somewhere .

Actually no. The Countach had a 5 ltr, then a 5.2 ltr. The Diablo had a 5.7 then a 6.0ltr. The motor in the ad is a 8.3ltr. BIG difference. There were a few LM002's ,which some shieks had 8lts installed in. Supposedly pretty insane.
BTW 25k is about the going rate for a 12cly lambo rebuild.

This is probably one of the motors out of the old reverie racing boat... it needs to be cheap cause that 19k is the tip of the iceberg when it fails ;) ... not saying it's a bad motor, just that all motors break :D

Rather put 20k into a big block chevy vs the lambo.Thing probably has to rev high to make some power to boot.

Okay, looks wise, do you like the Lambo V12 or a Ford 427 Cammer? I know its all a matter of opinion. I really like the gold marine Lambo motor in the photos, but the one that is actually in the boat... not a big fan.

As I always tell my customers......... bend over........ breathe easy... it won't hurt so much..... You don't want to know what parts cost for something really exotic like a Delahaye or a Delage. I once paid $750.00 for a USED ignition coil for a 1939 Delahaye 135 m. He had it... I needed it to finish the car. It was a weird Marchal coil with a glass body. You could look inside through the oil and see the windings. But after the customer paid over $1,000 for an engine turned firewall... $750 seemed like a bargain.

I stand corrected ! Alfa had the Montreal in 68 . Maserati also made a V-8 biturbo 4 door sedan. The engine in my pilot friend's hangar was a Maserati with 8 short velocity stacks as I remember .It was a few years ago ,I ain't getting any younger  :D . Yes the DeTomaso is a Pantera ,that he had some special hemi heads milled out of billet ,somewhere in california for. My friend with these cars is nuts collecting ugly cars like the Countach , , maybe he isn't telling me he bought it to maybe reselling it at Barret Jackson , cause this is the anniversary model  . He has a Hennessey Viper and picking up an ACR next week , so I don't see the love affair with Lambos. The only Lambo I like is a 68 Miura I was lucky to ride back in 1970.
Another guy I know built an identical car like this Bachetta with the Maserati V-8 . Few were made .He sold it to someone in Belgium . The car in the link looks exactly the same . Monty built the entire body out of aluminum . It was in many shows around here in vancouver until he sold it ca 6 years ago .http://bjornmaserati.tripod.com/masbachetta.html

Maserati Biturbos were V-6's not V-8's.. The name of the Maserati, although misspelled in the article heading is "barchetta"..... pronounced "bar-ketta". which in Italian means "little boat". Ferrari made a "Barchetta" back in the early 50's. Lamborghini made a model called a Muira...... but I've never heard of a Miura........ ok.... I'm just busting your balls about spelling now.....

Nope... trust me.... I've worked on enough Muiras to know how they are spelled.... They have got to be my all time favorite Lambo... Beautiful Bertone designed body, but stillborne mechanicals. Twin distributors and 4 weber IDA three throat carbs. When you look out the back window.... you are looking right across the carbs.( the engine is in sideways, which is a trick for a v-12) The joke was they designed the rear window that way so you could see which carb was on fire when it backfired, which they did quite a lot if not properly tuned. You have got to love the italian design though. The dash is a work of art. The spare tire protrudes into the dash board from the front, leaving a bulge under the windshield. ( It's mid engined ...... remember? ) The gas tank is up front right where it can rupture during an accident. If your going to go.... you might just as well go out flaming.
