Q for the ladys out there... ( baby gift)

I got a call from a freind of mine that now lives on the east coast. Him and his wife just had thier 1st.( punk didn't even tell me she was expecting) I was wondering, would it be better to send them a gift card( remember alot of stores are diffrent) or send them a "college" savings bond set up in the duagthers name(at the time of the phone called she had not been named yet)
I'm leaning towards a ( college) savings bond, since I really don't want to send them like a wally world or sears gift card.
Your thoughts and/or ideas would be much appreciated.

I would send a Toys R Us or Babies R Us gift card, they are located back east. A gift card is always good seeing as babies are so expensive, I enjoyed them with each of my 3 kids, I'm sure there is stuff they still need. Just my .02.

gift cards babies ar expensive. Lots of Targets back east and wal-marts to.
extra money always helps with the first ones strollers car seats DIPERS:jawdrop: Formula etc.
