I have a motor and trans out of a 87 gmc s-15 with about 67k miles on it. It would work you will just ahve to take off all your carb stuff and put it on it( its a TBI motor)

FWIW the 2.8 is a amzing LITTLE motor. Tons of power for its size. Other then a 350 its porbly the best motor gm ever built. I have pulled just about every thing you can think of with my 87, incullding a 5500 lb boat( just could not stop it :crossx: ) I tell ppl all the time what it can do and no1 beleaves me, that is untill they watch me do it.

what type of fuel pump does it have? i have a 86 2.8 with f.i. on it and it has no place for a fuel pump.

in tank eletric. Correct me if I am wrong... the mech fuel pump is on the timing cover...swap otu a time cover and your set...its also a serpentine belt set up, but every thing that was on it is now on my truck....so you would have to bolt up your vbelt set up.

in 83-85 engines the fuel pump is mounted on the side of the block and not the cover.

well I found 1. ( 85 out of a auto 4x4) every thing but the carb. he would sell the motor and tranny for 150. Has some thing like 75k miles on it you just would have to come pull it out. It truns over freely, but has not been run in abotu 8 years so rather or not its still in good shape is unknown.

you been treating it good. 1st. 2.8 let go at 101,000. this one let go at 124,000. i have heard them go as early as 60,000. from what i have learded is they have weak rods in them. someone just posted on another board that you can use 350 rods you just have to shave the sides of the rods to clear the crank. i just may drop a small block in it and keep it.
