I was just watching an episode of wings on the military channel and they were showing these semi boat planes that tupelov made during the cold war which had narrow wings 8 jets mounted in front of the wings, and a 5 story tall tail section, they had to be as big as a jumbo jet, and did 400mph on the water, basically a sea plane that didn't take off, just hauled ass on the water and held a s@&% load of troops. it was pretty cool

Steve, I've seen that before. He developed what called a surface effect aircraft. They can only fly high enough to turn or bank. They will not go higher. Apparently the air right above water or land is different for a short distance up. Neat show. Budlight:idea:
