She has a fight on her hand in funny car to get to the top. John team, capps, scelzi, shit almost everybody is a decent runner in that class, then you have new guys like beckman thats lighting the world of fire, and you have berstein coming back in the monster car. Mark my words, she won't be competitive for a few years but she has $$$ behind her that will keep her in the game. Its not finding a driver they can mold that, its finding a tuner. Almost all of the good ones are out there and rest are retired.

I'd put money on her winning at least one national event in her first season. Look at the resources and brain trust that will be behind her. The entire Force opperation is behind all 4 cars in the stable, so it's not like she'll be rolling up to the line with sub-par equipment. I believe that both Height and Medlen won in there first season, so there's not much reason that she couldn't either. All in all it's going to be an outstanding year in Funny Car, as the DSR car of Beckman seems to have figured something out, Capps looking for redemtion, etc. I have a feeling though that Kenny Bernsteins going to struggle for awhile, considering that he and Ray Alley haven't done this for awhile and they don't have a team car to pull any information from. Even with all of the experience that those guys have, their in for a steep learning curve. I can't wait for Pomona!:D

He is a good guy. Hung out with him for years at the street races. Will try and stop by his house this weekend. I used to joke with him about being an elevator repair man and he always said he was a "vertical transportation specialist"

Here is a press release that was just sent to me.
Mach 1 Air Services signs Ashley Force and Erica Enders
PHOENIX (Jan. 17) -- Mach 1 Air Services will sponsor two of drag racing's biggest stars -- Funny Car rookie Ashley Force and third-year Pro Stock racer Erica Enders -- in 2007 and beyond. In an effort to broaden its global name recognition in the months following expansion into Singapore and China, Mach 1 Air Services hopes Force and Enders continue to make them the preferred air freight forwarder in the world.
"We're thrilled to officially announce our sponsorship of Ashley Force and Erica Enders," said Mach 1 CEO and founder Mike Entzminger. "Name recognition is very important in our business and we're confident these two young drivers will bring lots of positive attention to our company and a whole lot of fun to our employees.
"Last season marked our first involvement with NHRA drag racing and we really had a great time. There were lots of events where we were able to entertain clients in the pits and the response was very positive. During the course of the season we developed a relationship with John Force and through him we met his daughter Ashley. When they told us of their future plans we knew we wanted to be involved. She's an incredible young woman with a bright future ahead of her.
"We also became very close with Erica. Her popularity with the fans is unmatched and she was someone we also wanted to align ourselves with as quickly as possible.
"Both of these young women will be fantastic ambassadors for Mach 1 Air Services. We look forward to introducing them as Mach 1 representatives in the months ahead and we wish them the very best success on the racetrack."
Although racing in different categories, Force and Enders are both blazing new trails for female drag racers. In just 27 starts, Enders has raced to two finals and 18 elimination-round wins, which are both records for female participants in the class. The 23-year-old from Houston also scored the first low qualifier award by a woman racer this past season in Topeka, Kan. Only five women have competed in Pro Stock.
Enders' overwhelming popularity among her fans is due in large part to the Disney Channel movie Right On Track, which chronicled her and her sister Courtney's rise through the NHRA's Junior Dragster ranks, where Erica won 37 races. To date, it is the most watched movie in Disney Channel history.
Force, the 24-year-old daughter of 14-time Funny Car champion John Force, will make her professional debut in 2007. For the past five seasons, Ashley has raced in the sportsman classes driving both a Super Comp dragster and an A/Fuel dragster. She has won five times in nine final rounds.
Only nine women preceded Ashley into the Funny Car ranks. None have won a race, reached the final round, or earned low qualifier honors.
Started in 1988, Mach 1 Air Services has the resources, people, and expertise to seamlessly move freight from origination to destination at the time it needs to be there. Meeting and exceeding the expectations of each Mach 1 customer has been the difference between Mach 1 and their competitors. It's also one of the reasons Mach 1 has consistently posted year-over-year revenue growth and is currently one of the fastest growing expedited air freight carriers in the world.
Through its vast international network of company-owned facilities and quality partner providers, Mach 1 has the capability to ship freight across the state or the around the globe. Additionally, Mach 1 Air Services provides a range of value-added services such as repackaging, crating, and warehousing to provide even more complete solutions. Just out of curiousity, what have you done lately??? Anyone, female or not, who has the guts to climb into a 5k+ h.p. dragster and go 300+ mph within 1/4 of a mile has my respect.

I agree...if you look at most racers out there, whether it's NASCAR, NHRA, etc., most drivers are second and third generation. It definetily helps having the doors already open for you when it comes to todays high dollar racing. Would Dale Jr. be running Cup today if it wasn't for his grandad and father paving the way for him to follow in their foot steps? I for one sure wish I had some foot steps to follow in, because no matter how good you are, it's very hard to get a ride or support as an unknown.
P.S. Who cares how she got there, so long as we get to look at her when she jumps out of the car. She's HOT!!!:D

I think Team force will get Ashley in the winner circle plenty next season, that team gathers more data in one weekend than others can get in 5 races, thats a huge advantage.
Enders is another story, shes got her work cut out for her.
should be another good season, last year was awesome..

Not bad for a rookie, oh and a chick;)
After making slow and steady progress in the first three days of testing at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, second-generation Funny Car driver Ashley Force made the most of her final opportunity by pushing her Castrol GTX Ford Mustang through the timers in a career-best 4.729 seconds Tuesday.
It was the quickest run of the rookie's brief career and the best by any John Force Racing Inc. team member during the Friday-Tuesday test on a track that hosts two of the 23 events in the NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series.

anyone can mash the gas...its can she be competitive, handle the car, and keep herself alive. As with any racing. She has the best team behind her. Time will tell.

What happened to Laurie Johns and Shelly Anderson? There are others as well but I can't recall their names.
And the issue about Ashley's there because of her Daddy...yeah...so what, If my dad was a race car driver be it NASCAR, Drag or even midget I would think I would want to do the same, and remember, just because you have bucks dosn't mean you can just go hop in a dragster and have a fun weekend, just like the boats, you have to "earn" the privilage and the licenses.
I say go for it for Ashley...now someone post more pictures of her! :D

If I remember correctly Shelly stepped out of her Top Fuel seat to have a kid or two. You're are correct though, her and Jay both ran Pro Mod last season where I believe she one an event or two as well.
