View Full Version : Divider in Droop- Yeah or Nay?

My droop has a divider in it. I noticed that it splits the rooster. Does this effect anything? Can the divider disturb the flow? I was thinking about cutting it out.
Pros and Cons?

Think about it this way. the water is trying to flow through the droop and it has to hit that divider and go one way or another. the divider impedes flow. get rid of it so there's a clear path.

no. i dont believe it weakens the part. if that part breaks for any reason than the casting sucked to begin with.

any massaging you can do inside there is going to help flow. make sure those pivot pins are ground nice and flush with the walls of the diverter, droop etc. as well. dont want stuff sticking up in there for water to run into.

good info! thanks i got a pc coat machine for xmas and was thinking about cutting it out when i recoated the droop. i couldn't understand why it was there and i remember reading alot of threads about broken droops, thought it was for strength, but its coming out now.

Mike I have the same thing. I just spent counless hours thining mine out, it is razor sharp and polished. I was told they are for strength and that Place Diverter and Controls puts there strength on the outside, and because of that it creates drag.

I sent for one of those last summer, come to think about it the summer before also! Think its a tracking problem? I have one from back in 96, bet it's worth some big $$$$ on Ebay. Their website works well enough to spend money so I'll keep waiting for the new book, and the new Guns&Roses cd.:D

My understanding with the divider changes depending on what bowl you are running. When we put a JG on the flow bench the exit water/air was much different than on my aggressor. As a result, my old droop (with JG bowl) did not have a divider and my new aggressor unit does.
Air out of the JG came out at 45* realitive to the centerline, consequently the air water runs into eachother and then heads out the droop. The aggressor air/water flows straight out the back of the bowl never hitting against eachother before exiting.
I'm not arguing with you guys, I think that if you have a JG or similar bowl, it probally does create an obstruction, but not convinced on the aggressor or similar flowing bowl that it will. Just my .02
