Hey guys, let me start out with this. Gota a 490 BBC with 990's on it (ported heavily) with an 8-71 and two 1050's. The carbs might be too big for what I'm intending to do but....it came in my hydro with turned 7300+ rpm's. It's got a new home in my jet and I want to run it around 5500rpm or so. You guys got cam suggestions? The one I got is too big, .727 .727. Worked well with the v-drive....but want to change it. Also, maybe go down to 850's instead of my dominators? Hate to, got an inline Kuhl mount that looks cool, but I think I should step down. You guys got any ideas???
Thanks so much.

That's not too much lift. What are the rest of the cam specs.

To be honest with you, I don't know. It started life as one of those "River Rat" motors Kuhl built. I bought it from a friend of mine, already in the boat, it ran hard so I didn't care. I was told it's 114 center, 314 324 duration. No card though! Reason I'm asking is...when I see similiar profiles in cam catalogs they're saying 5000 to 8000 rpm range. Then I read articles about engine builds and alot of guys are in the low .600's with lift. That 572 that is in that red and white jet always seen in ***boat, has a smaller cam than mine and motor is a monster compared to mine. Just looking for help!!!
