The 1098 has got my attenion, my dealer has 5 available and 1 with my name on it "He say's". For right now I'm just looking. I hate to buy something, ride it a few seasons and park it with the rest of the things I thought I needed.
Up grades are pretty pricey, for example a Fast by Feracci exhaust system is $2800.00. I know I can't leave it stock. Just curious if anyone else is looking.

I sold my S4R a couple of months back to clear the lane for this bad dog... I have another purchase to make ahead of it, but it is definitely in the cards. FBF is great, but I would always get a Termignioni exhaust for a superbike... that being said, I had Arrow's on the Monster because they sounded cooler... ;)

Ducati's are sweet...the best looking bikes out there. I had a ZX6R Ninja that I sold. If I ever bought another bike it would have to be a Ducati 999r. I would say buy it. Even if you only ride it for a couple years it will be well worth it.

Nothing wrong with just owning it because you love it.
Look at gun owners.
They own all kinds of cool firearms, and most probably never fire them.
At least the ones I know.
Just the contentment of owning something you like and think is super cool.
Our sports car rarely gets drivin.
I just like the novelty of owning something different than most with some performance too.
If the Duke grabs ya by the sac, for that reason alone is good enough in my book.

That 1098 is better looking in person. They had all 3 @ the show in Long Beach and we sat on the base model.:D
I think I'am going to pass on the 1098 right now & keep saving for thr Desmo

I'm really suprised that there is so much interest in this bike. Rumor has it that the 08 Superbike is going to be an 1198. But I quess there will always be something bigger and faster.:D

One of these days I will have a choice to swing a leg over a Duck or my trusty 900RR.

It is definatley a bitchen bike, but to much damn power IMO. You cant really open it up anywhere....legally or safely that is. I plan on getting the 749 by the end of this year, I may think about the 999....hmmm.

You need to ride outside the LBC. We have lots of roads to wick it up alittle.:D

Like I said...SAFELY or LEGALLY. I know the bike is capable and if I wanted to I could hit them numbers on PCH if I wanted to...Unfortunatley my bike tops out at about 165.
I have road Palomar, ACH, Big Bear, Oretega and Malibu. Trying to keep most of that type of riding to the tracks now.

For me...pretty well. Other than this past saturday where the guy died. My buddy also high sided on his last session of the day. Totaled his bike walked away with a sprained foot. Im just riding my ride. I improved my lap times at button willow. From 3min to 2 min 45 seconds...not bad for a newbie.:D Doing Buttonwillow again in March and Spring Mountain at the end of May:)

I understand! Im still kiching around the ideas of keeping my 999 and passing on the 1098 and the Desmo. Boating has become my favorite past time so who knows. Ill probably have the 749 for a while, no plans of pushing it yet but soon! Its in perfect shape just so you know, 5000 miles, Ill take $7400.00. I was looking on the traderonline and seems they are all going for 9000.00 or so.

We used to be a Duc dealer. We got rid of it some time ago and now Pat Clark on Sahara (in Vegas) carries them. I was told they will really work you a smokin deal. Vegas isn't a big Duc place for some reason (not enough twisties I guess :( ).
The problem for you Cali guys is you will have to register it in one of the other 49 states if you buy it here (most of you guys have a place in Havasu). We have no smog on our bikes. You can eventually register it in Cali after it has 7500 miles on it.
Good luck.
BTW, the 1098 is a sick bike. Much better looking than the 999. I was never a fan. I like the fact the "S" comes with the DDA.

CAli is always cheaper for Ducs, at least from what ive seen, I got mine for 4000.00 less then here, after a 500.00 trip to San Fran it was totally worth it. I didnt think there was that much mark up but somehow there is. Monroe Motors is a great place to buy from, I bought my 999 from there and called a year later to order the Desmo and Rory totally remembered me, I think that is a great sign that the customers there arent just numbers.

Anybody seeing/getting better than the $14.995 MSRP?

Concept1
01-23-2007, 03:24 PM
MSRP isnt really the problem you need to find a dealer that is going to waive all the freight and set up fees, thats usually around 900 or so. I just heard that everyone is " claiming " to have pre sold ALL of them. i dont buy it, thats a good way to give dealers leverage and add addendums to the price. Id wait a little while before you grab one, could save you a couple grand...
