.............JBB................Claptons guitar intro on the original Layla is included in the top 20...........I believe at number 7..........Derek and the Dominos, a band put together by Clapton as an anti super group, had a brief run.......Many people had no clue he was even in the band..........Shortly after the initial recording sessions began, Duane Allman joined the band...........The guitar parts of Clapton and those of Allman, are at some points a little hard to discern.........It was most likely recorded on 16 track tape .........and there is much overdubing........... There was a club called the Brass Ring in the San Fernando Valley(L.A.)........and one night these guys walked in set up and played..........It was 3 or 4 nights of some really amazing music........I suppose spellbinding is an appropriate description.............There is a Cd available based on Clapton and Allmans hours of guitar jams from these sessions, that unfortunately I don't know the name of and have not heard ..........It's probably loose, but most likely artistically brilliant.......and from watching your very creative input to this forum, I'm sure you'll get it............

Van Halen - Eruption!
Abso-friggin-lutely the best! Every budding guitar player of the 80's and early 90's made that their hallmark riff!
And how about any number of Aerosmith riffs? Walk This Way, Back in the Saddle, etc.?

Chuck Berry at number 12 needs to be number 1. He invented the guitar riff.

I kinda thought Clapton's intro to Layla would be in the top 20 ....
.... or Clapton's Motherless Children chorus riff.
Many of those losers wouldn't know what a guitar was if Keith Richards beat them over the head with one.

Man...I was always an Angus Young Fan...I had posters on my freakin wall and saw ACDC at the forum back in the early 80's a couple of times. That kid had the most energy of any guitar player out there and was still able to play his riffs with perfection!

Whoa no Stevie Ray Vaughn... probably one of the greatest ever. My favorites would be Clapton with a few, stones-gimmee shelter, and Free Bird
