For a short time when I was a teenager, we lived near Paul Winchell.
He played he voice of Tigger in Disneys Winnie the Pooh.
He did other voices, and had a few of his own TV shows too.
The Banana Splits, Winchell Mahony time.
One thing ya never hear is he invented the Jarvik mechanical Heart.
Dr Jarvik ended up with whole contraption after Winchell donated it to the Univ. of Utah, and later Jarvik taking all the credit.
Winchell had a cute daughter April who today does voices on cartoon series.
She's done a lot of them.
She does one of the Fairy god parents on "Fairly Odd Parents" and the old crow school teacher in Jimmy Neutron.

In his later years he was a writer for Disney.
My mom worked for Disney, and they became friends.
My mom used to hang out at his place for marathon bridge tourneys and barbaques.
He had a nice BlueBird bus converted to a "Land Yaught", an early class A mo Ho.
Keaton was a big Baseball and Rams fan and the MoHo was for tailgating before the games.
It was cool, he was cool. He had a backyard model garden railroad that was excellent.

Rod Stewart the singer was on my semi-pro soccer team in the San Fernando Valley for a couple years ('83 - '85). His son misappropriated my soccer cleats one morning before a game. It's the same son of his that was caught misappropriating an old woman's purse years later.
"Red", the cigar chewing ground crew Sarg. on Baa Baa Black Sheep filmed at Indian Dunes use to eat at our family pizza shop in Newhall. He also played a hardware store owner in "Roadhouse" w/ Patrick Swazie. He lived up Placerita Cyn. where they filmed most of the movie.

I am a cousin to Dan Truman who plays key board for Diamond Rio. He also writes a lot of their music. We played together as kids. We played Daniel Boone not music! Bruce Hurst pitched for the San Diego Padres after almost winning the world series for the boston red sox. If you remember the sox were up 3 games to two in the series. Bruce had won 2 of the games and came out of this third game with the sox ahead. The anouncers had just named Bruce as the MVP of the series. It was the top of the last inning. A slow ground ball was hit to the first baseman and it went thru his legs. (one of the most famous bloopers in baseball, still haunts the guy today) Boston went on to lose the game. They had to take back their words on anouncing Bruce as the MVP. The sox lost the next game too. I know him well, but he's a real good friend of my wifes. Jay Don Blake, a not so famous pga golfer is a friend of ours. I'm a ledgend in my own mind. lol

Dennis Deyoung (of styx) lives around the corner from my dad. When I was growing up, he gave out cold hard cash for Halloween. His front yard is lined on both sides with big trees and at night, it's a little spooky. So most kids wouldn't go and try to trick or treat there because of it. Because Dennis would really only get my brothers and me at his door each year, he gave us $20's :D He still drives around town in his old crappy gold benz...he waves to everybody like we're adoring fans or something :)
Ashton Kutcher lived in the dorm room directly above mine, freshman year of college. He had a massige crush on my roomie and would bounce a basketball late at night just to get her to run up and visit. It happened so much we ended up hanging out quite a bit until he dropped out of school.
And finally, the infamous Gary Busey. My mom is good friends with his family. On occassion he'd show up at the grocery store and have a good chat wtih my mom. He was weird even then :D

Have a friend whose buddies with Ray Stevens the country singer. Ray was coming down to join us on an offshore fishing trip and asked Mark if it was alright to bring a friend. He showed up with Willie Nelson. Had a real fun day and caught a bunch of fish.
We all went out to dinner afterwards but Willie was tired and didn't want to go. Mark had a private office with living facilities at the Port of Freeport. He often had to stay at night when incoming ships needed his attention so the office was fully stocked with food, liquor, and essentials. Willie stayed there and got some rest rather than return to their motel.
That evening Mark got a call from Port Security that someone was in his office and no record from the gate guard on anyone entering. They had dispatched someone to investigate. Mark told them not to take any action, he knew who was there, and would be right down. When he got there he found all the night watch crew in the office listening to Willie telling stories.
Mark chuckled that no one seemed to notice the pungent aroma that Willie often creats with a couple of his "home rolled".

I grew up with Dino Andino (Surfer). He stole my jacket in 5th grade. I wasn't very close friends with him because he was fairly rotten. But, he didn't have a great family life as he was raised by his grandmother. He was definitely headed for a life behind bars if he hadn't been such a great surfer.
I was great friends with Cameron Steele in High School(MC for many Motocross events)...to the point that I almost killed him in a spin out at 90 MPH in my brother's car that I was behind the wheel. I still talk to him every now and then...I think WheresMyKeyes hangs with him occasionally. Cameron is a cool guy, but still acts like he is a teenager and he is turning 40 this year.
I lived across the street from Mickey Dymond (Old school motocross) in Yorba Linda until I was 10 years old. My first motorcycle was a 1974 YZ 80 that we bought from Mickey....which was his first motorcycle. Not many people know, but Mickey was doing Hill Climb racing before he did motocross. Mickey has a younger brother (1 year younger) named Ricky...and Ricky and I were best friends until my parents moved to San Clemente.

LOL,...Reggie Jackson is one of the biggest A-holes I have ever met. I used to work for a custom clothier in South Coast Plaza and he came in to have shirts made....his ego barely fit in the store...:rolleyes: Now Roger Moore and Michael Caine were gentlemen, and Doug DeCinces has some damn long arms and is very nice. I also met Bo Shembeckler...he was SO nice. Alot of $$ coming into that store for clothes--it was a good job.

I grew up in La Verne, and not too much went on in La Verne, but I did go to school w/the daughter of one of the two brothers that owned In-N-Out. The other brother (both who grew up in La Verne) was the one who died in a plane crash in Orange County.
Now I live in Lake Arrowhead, and there are a number of entertainers that either live full-time or part-time. Our most famous full-time residence is Christopher McDonald (Shooter McGavin from Happy Gilmore), and the list goes on for part-time residences. Priscilla Presley's house is nearby, there's Brian Wilson, Frankie Avalon, Heather Locklear, and many more. You can always see them shopping at an upscale grocery store named Jensens in Blue Jay.

Snoop lived three houses down from one of my fraternity brothers in Claremont. We would throw parties at his house, pretty big ones in fact. We thought we were pretty cool doing it too having a substantial amount of kegs. One time, we threw a party the same night that Snoop was having a "party" as well.....our parties were never the same.

i dated a model last fall, she just graduated, since then, she has been doing it full time, shes gonna be big..
i was a manager at a music venue in temecula up until december, i worked with alot of up and coming bands, a few have already made it big, national tours and such.. its kinda cool to know that you contributed to someone making it in one way or another..
im still young, but i know alot of kids who i can picture being very well known some day in the future.
oh, and my old man grew up with jeff ward in mission viejo, he said he was a real prick :D

Went to Jr. High & High School with Jr. Seau & we all lived in the same area in Oceanside.
Have camped with Metzger in Ocotillo before....actually...we just got an email from him yesterday, which was totally cool. Metz is my little guys hero, he totally worships him. He had watched the Stunt Junkies show that Metz got all busted up on & my poor kiddo was really upset by that, so we wrote him an email wishing him a speedy recovery. He said he'll be competing in the SuperMoto at the X games this weekend....says he's doing alot better & he's still healing up. That dude has been so busted up so many times...:eek:

My wife has some "Starr" in her lineage. But that was back in the old Cherokee Nation, before the Trail of Tears brought them to OK. She's also related to Will Rogers and Sequoya.
Going back far enough, she's directly descended of Scottish Royalty, including all of the King James (I-IV), Mary Queen of Scotts, and all the way back to Robert the Bruce.
I've been told that I'm related to Horatio "Hornblower" Nelson, but I can't find and proof of that.

Tina Yothers had a band that opened for us at the Galaxy. She was pissed she couldn't headline and then she started bitching that we had the big dressing room.
I guess in a way I'm a celebrity. I always hear people say "you're being an asshole" and "hey asshole". Since my dad always called me an asshole and these people already know my name...I guess I'm famous.

Very familiar with this. My uncle represents the 5 Indian Nations in Telaquah, Oklahoma.
Will Rogers Museum is a great place to visit in Claremore, Oklahoma. Garth and Trisha now live in Claremore as well. Also in Claremore is one of the largest gun museums in the world. I'm in Tulsa and N/E Okla 4 x a year. Love it !!!!!!!!

Did not grow up around anyone famous but have met quite a few famous bands and singers.
The ones who really stand out are Alice Cooper, david Bowie and Billy Joe Armstrong.
Alice Cooper was very polite, articulate and genuinley interesting to talk to.
David Bowie remains to this day easily the most intelligent person I have ever met. 5 minutes talking to him and i realized i was truly in the presence of a person who is just rediculously smart. There is no way to explain it. Say what you will about him but that guy is scary smart and knowledgable.
I am sure that people on here know Bill Joe Armstrong of Green Day. I believe he is from the bay area so somebody here surely must know him. Met him in Anchorage in '99 after a concert they did. VERY cool and fun guy.
Saw him again last year in Sac. and again was fortunate enough to get to speak with him. Wow, another guy who has his shit together in a big way. Just a smart, cool ass guy! Knows exactly what he is doing.
The one impressive thing they all have in common is they do exactly what they were meant to do and it shows. I don't think luck had anything to do with it.

I grew up, and still live in Charleston, WV. One of my neighbors was Sarah Jane Moore who later took a shot at President Ford. Another infamous character, Charley Manson, lived about 5 blocks away. Went to high school w/ Dennis Harrah all-pro guard, several seasons, w/ the Rams. Randy Moss played high school football w/ my son.

Actually funny true story.... for my husband's B'day I bought him a telescope. He had it set up in the master bay window, focused on her backyard. We were only leasing the house until ours was finished. One Sunday morning the agent calls and says someone is on their way over to view the house. My husband opens the door and two very good looking girls are at the door, one of which is Heather, she's with a friend interested in the house. He absolutely loves her and is very embarrassed b/c he's in shorts and a t and looks like he just crawled out of bed.. :D They go upstairs to look around and I whisper in his ear "She's going to look in the telescope" :D :D I don't know if she ever did though....
