I have a 78 hallett 20.5 ss i am going through the motor now. 468. eagle rods manley crank. i want to know what cam is recommended. i have a pfm risers setup with the old small banks intercooler (looking for large one) single carb from master John Avery (may upgrade to dominator) and through transom exhaust. oval port heads with some work done. i was planning on 8.5:1 JE pistons. want a hydrolic roller... was looking at engle and isky????

I have a turbocharged'78 Hallett SS also. I used to run an older PFM/Banks setup that sounds similiar to yours. I used a Comp Cams cam that was WAY off for the motor. Your best bet is to talk to some guys that have experiance with these setups. Barry(Obnoxious001), Marti Gras or Alexi@Boostpower might be some guys to talk to.

Here is the cam I run in a T.T. 466" BBF. In. .595" ex. .561" lift. Duration @.050" is in. 248 deg/ ex. 236 deg. 114 L/S [dur at .015" 294-282] This is a turbo specific "dyno shop" cam done by Comp. Call Dean @ Comp.

thanks for the input! anyone know how much portwork hardin logs can take??? just want to match to the heads for now... any one have a large intercooler for sale????/

I wouldn't hog any material out of the log manifolds as it may burn thru if you grind a thin spot. I would keep them as thick as possible esp. in the flange area, they warp easily enough without help. No dual element intercooler, I've been looking for a long time myself.
