we use windsor. Marina tried to make us buy a weekend pass when we would only use it one day.(holiday) Made huby made said he would never go again. They were really rude about the whole thing. Windsor gets alittle crazy but you can buy a yearly pass for a $100. Well worth it. When it gets crowded just use the overflow by the channel.

(our friends frank and michelle, f up there trailer on that right side.... the left side of the dock was under construction... that was the week before the rhino run.... which was.... MLK weekend...we went to the marina to dock, that weekend, and they did the noise "test" to out boat...it took 40 min...i didnt think we were going to pass...we finally did...we also have mufflers on ours.... so i think you will be ok...i think for "right" now...dock at the marina...ONLY BECAUSE it has been a little windy out there... If you are talking about the Marina...they are not LEO, and they are not checking the noise based on the state standards (they made up their own). They are denying access to legal boats (that don't meet their standards, but do meet the AZ standards). I have a letter from the AZ Governor mandating they stop, but apparently the Mayor didn't care.
If they put you in "the computer"...it is just for the Marina. Frankly, those guys are so bad with a db meter...I'm suprised they know how to use a computer.

Crazyhore and the Nautical are both private, and not testing. Windsor, Catail, and Site Six are all State run, but I doubt you'd get hasstled there since they would need a patrol boat in the water to get a transom reading. The only risk there may be a "No Muffling Device" citation, which is visual.
The Marina is private, but they are making up their own laws...what a joke.

Even though your exhaust is underwater, just the fact that they are testing boats should be enough to see they are discriminating against performance boaters (since sailboats don't have loud exhaust...like your boat), and it should piss you off.

That is a bunch of whiny crap. I have to drive the truck (with a 40' trailer) and my boat, since I don't have anyone else that can do either.
It's ironic that the Marina is the only facility that can accomodate my truck and trailer (to make the turn safely), but they won't let me launch there.
The last time I was at Windsor, there was such a fierce crosswind (with whitecaps), it was blowing my 10,000lb boat sideways, and I had to throw one engine in reverse just to keep the nose in my lane. Once the wind catches my boat, it would take at least 10 guys to stop it. I don't have 10 guys...just me, and my driving skills. Somehow, I always get it on and off the trailer....no worries.
As for Crazyhorse, just ask for a day pass, and you can use the ramp (unless they are full...which can happen anywhere).

HH, you me and a few others tried to do something about this a couple of years ago when the Marina decided they were above the law. I say a few others because when it came down to it, the few were the only ones who were determined to make it happen. All of the others on here were filled with hot air. They complained but did nothing to back it up. Consequently our quest to sue the marina never materialized.
We can still try to educate the boaters on this forum about the marina and make them see the light. But I wouldn't get too worked up over it.

Ive never had any problems at the Marina, however i try to not launch there at all costs due to principal. Everyone i know seems to get some kind of hassles from them.

And we have a winner...
I have a real problem with an enterprise that enforces rules arbitrarily as opposed to unilateraly.
This past summer we sat in the channel next to guy who's boat failed the decibal test,he gave the guy $50.00 and was allowed to launch...
In my book that's Bull$hit.
Used to be these forums were more of a fraternity...We pretty much all had each other's back's when dealing with any entity that messed with a fellow boater.
I don't completely understand this every man for himself mentality, when it comes to the launch ramp Nazi's at the main marina.

I'm not much of a Havasu boater, but after reading all the shit on here I actually went out of my way to find other launch ramps in Havasu the few times I went up there. (I only knew where the marina was). The ole Nordic would pass no problemo as it was as quiet as quiet gets, but fock all if I'll be a Scab like djunkie..

Hes not worked up, hes just giving me a hard time. :D And if the people at the marina would give me a reason I would stop going there in a heart beat. But, until then I'm not gonna start going to Windsor when I haven't had problems at the Marina. Hell, I won't go to Walmart because of the way they treat their employees but I won't come on here and tell you not to.
The analogy isn't quite correct but it's the principal isn't it? And the employees can go find another job somewhere else. No one is holding a gun to their head. Well I'll argue just for the hell of it :D If Wal-Mart treated their customers the way the marina treats us....would you then tell us not to go there?
Just giving you a hard time like HH. Can't let him have all the fun:D

Havasu has a Marina? :D :D :D
.
Haven't launched there since 1990 something......more so out of convenience than anything else. And I guess it was a half hearted effort to help the Perf boaters by not taking my quiet potato chip boat there. Nor have I spent any money for gas or goodies.....I do that in town.
.
If Havasu's mayor blows off the Governors orders then it stands to reason there is another step to take, no? Or do we have a different mayor now that might act upon it?

Maybe if you put some dcb stickers on it and raise the price 30k it would sell tomorrow.
Hey if you need a place to Launch that doesn't check you can launch out of my private one(Willow Valley) a little north of Needles. $15 puts your boat in the water. No wind. Or I think Moabi doesn't check either.. not sure though.

the really sad thing is the monopoly that the marina seems to have over havasu, what i mean is havasu has exploded in the last five years with no new launch facilities/ marina ?? sounds like the city fathers are taking care of the marina just fine, no new enterprises allowed, even though the lake could use a new "boater" friendly marina, new slips, gas docks etc...but sure seems like every time someone approaches the idea, they get slammed by the dudley do gooders that might not have thier fingers in the pie, even if they started tommrrow, hell it wouldn't be done for at least a year, all political b.s.
It isn't necessarily the city. The marina has a contract with the state and guess what? All of the shoreline that's available is owned by the state. And the contract specifies that the marina can build another marina....first right of refusal. So if anyone really wants to put up the money for another marina, LHM can say nope....we'll do it instead.
Performance boaters alway complain about their supposed "rights" being taken away. You'd think they would stick together and fight for what's right. Last I checked...Lake Havasu Marina is still sticking it to us.
Until someone or a group of boaters decides to pony up the thousands of dollars to "protect our rights" you can go on crying and complaining.

last year my buddy's boat broke out in the middle of the lake. The marina was the closest so it was towed there. THe marina would not let us tie off so we could drive to cattail to get the truck. we had to call the tow again, wait again, then get towed to Cat tail........I HATE THAT PLACE!!!! By the time it was all said and done, everyone was sober. ehhhh
