Im pulling my intake to have it machined for a shoe and ride plate. I found 2 things that raise questions.
In this pic on the left side of the intake it appears to me that it is sitting below the keel. Both side of the intake are the same way, is this suppose to be like that?

Next pic, this is the first time i noticed this so i have no idea how long its been like this. As you can see there is a big chunk taken out of the front of the right fin. Is this going to be / or is it a problem?

One thing i noticed once i started un bolting the intake was how shitty it was put in. Im thinking that it hasnt even been taken out, if thats the case the factory did a horrible job of installing. Here is one last pic, you can see the space between the intake and the hull. Both front and back of the intake have gaps like this.

First off, that is a real shitty install on an intake. 2nd, while the intake is out you can weld/repair that fin. sharpen the fins too. Now when you go to put back in. First line the front edge up as close to the hull[on the bottom] as possible. Do this with the 2 screws in the ft corners. then level the boat keel at 0 degrees. Now take the level and put it on the pump mount surface and turn the back screws till it reads 4 degrees. Now put the level sideways on the front and back of the intake and level it that way. Now go under the boat and make sure the intake is square with the 2 inside lifting strakes. If not cut intake hole till it's straight. Then put masking tape around the intake and the hole and mix a big batch of seagoing epoxy putty and put a thick coat around the hole. recheck all measurements and fill all gaps. You can smooth all putty with a wet hand. Put some weight on it and let it sit and cure 2 hours and remove masking tape. The next day you can drill the holes and countersink the bottom hole and install the screws. Now go under and grind or fill all around the intake until it's perfectly smooth. BL
