Did you read any of the statements by what appear to be lawyers? There is alot more to this case than just the headlines. There were multiple partners. There was a video tape....There was a 17 yo girl who had sex while drunk, and maybe drugged, all this on tape. If all the sex charges were dropped, everyone in the room could be prosecuted federally for child porn!!!! I agree that 10 years was BS, but the ones that plead guilty were given 5 years. This guy fought the system and lost. BTW, down deep in the text/remarks below it is mentioned that the 15 yo girl was white, and the 10 year guy was black...............Ooops...........MP

under the age of consent would the girl have gotten any jail time?

Sorry, but he gambled on the court system and lost. Now his parents are trying to reneg on the consequences. Next his parents will sue the parents of the girl for entrapment and whoever else that was involved that has money.
If the lawyers did not have the court system so screwed up, he would have been given a reprimand and community service. And the girl would have been taken from her parents if necessary while undergoing therapy. From the sounds of it, if she is good lookng enough, she is headed for a career as a porn star. and her parents will tell everyone how proud they are of her.
