So I go in to have a cavity filled that had come in under the first filling I ever had. No biggie. Dentist starts drilling and gets it all cleaned out and lets me know that I need a root canal as he's drilled down where the nerve is exposed and I haven't even jumped yet and I should have as I don't get shots in my mouth and therefore wasn't numb. So he closes it back up and now I get to go see a specialist and then go back for a crown. Gotta love days like today!!! I'm going back to bed. :notam:  :jawdrop: :(

Actually, this is the first time I've been drilled on in 7 years or so. Last major thing I had done was getting my wisdom teeth pulled and that's been 5 years ago or longer. Only have 3 fillings, soon to be 2 and a crown. Think I'll go with a gold crown with some bling in it!!! :D :D :D

Yikes! it's going to get expensive from here.
I need to go. Been chewing on one side now for 6 months, I don't know what hurts more the drilling or the bill. Not that it's not worth it, Just most dental ins. doesn't cover much.

OK, it's going to be a long couple weeks until I go into the specialist. Chewing on that side of the mouth isn't even an option. I forsee lots of liquids, soup, Goose, and the like in my future. Stupid tooth!!!

I just got a gold crown. It took 2 hrs in the chair to get all the imperssions, drilling of the build up and the temp. crown. It sucked. Good luck:D

I just got my crown put on yesterday as a matter of fact. Had the root canal done a few weeks back. The worst part is holding your mouth open for like 2 hours straight.
Are you planning to do the root canal without anesthetic? If so, you are BALLSY! They gave me 2 big shots...I didn;t wanna feel a thing. I was numb for like 3 hours after my appointment but it was worth it IMO.

Not only that....even with dental insurance it still cost me like $800 out of my pocket.

Cpt. Danny's brother is a dentist in Tijuana. No Shiat!!! I can get you in amigo! Right away most likely. And I won't let the french boat hand help either!!
Oryou can come to the shop and have the boys work it for you. We have the internet so we can figure out just about anything! :D

I might bite the bullet and get a shot for this deal. He was digging around way down in the tooth today before he finally twanged a nerve enough for me to flinch. The only time I've had my mouth numb was when I got my wisdom teeth out and I hated that feeling.

I've got an appointment already with a specialist up here so you can tell the boys they can stop sanitizing their pliers and vice grips. Oh, and I'm not sure that I want to go to TJ for a root canal. Something about the dentist doing more shots of the anesethic tequilla than me that makes me a little wary. :jawdrop: :D

C'mon JORDY, man up, last year I had the same thing, got mad at dentistry in the good ol Maricopa County, so I did the reverse undcoumented alien thing. Went to Algodones Mexico got the whole root canal, post, and crown in one sitting, and even was able to turn it in on our new insurace at Empire. For $600 U.S. cash.

So............
About a month and a half ago, I woke up with a sore spot on the side of my lower left jaw, on the inside, wayyyyy back.
I am thinking, I don't remember poking myself with anything. Ya know how you can get a sore spot from pizza crust or a tooth pick jab???
For the next few weeks the damn thing gets more sore and I am having tooth pain. Thinking I might have a bad tooth, needing root canal or a crown, whatever..... the thing hurts.
I am gargling with salt water and brushing, cleaning like crazy and no help
After a few beers one night, I figured I would pick at the damn thing with my fingernail and either piss it off big time or get the thing on the road to healing. As I am picking at it I feel the scabby kinda thingy fall off into my mouth. Spit the thing out and it looks like a piece of broken tooth.
The next day, I call the dentist and make an ASAP appt. for a broken tooth. I asked, "should I bring in the broken tooth piece"? Women says " no, we are going to fill it in with plastic anyway, dont bother." OK, so I throw the piece into the garbage.
I go to the dentist and the hygeist (sp?) pokes around, top, bottom, left and right and says she cant see a broken tooth??? Takes a "bite wing" X-ray and still says there's nothing wrong. So, I asked........... if bringing in the spit out/in the garbage piece would help???? Sure go back home and bring it in for a look see.... Back home I go............dug the piece out of the garbage can.
I bring it in and the girls are all excited to see WTF this thing is. All say it's a piece of tooth..... Nope, dentist comes for a look see with his big azz magnafying (sp?) glasses on and says it's a piece of my jaw bone!!!!!
Turns out when I was 18 yrs. old I had my wisdom teeth out. Nasty job where they had to cut my gums away and drill my teeth in 4 places, crack them into 4 pieces and rip em out. When this happened the dentist broke my jaw and 33 years later, the piece of jaw bone finally came out.........
So,,,,,,,,anway, that's my dentist story. Unless ya want to hear about the hot hygentist story when I was 16-18 but that might be a Ratso style dealio-------
Be good, Jim

Had a root canal a few months ago and just got a temporary crown yesterday. Even though the tooth had no nerves, the doc shot me up anyways. I don't mind the shots, they only sting for a second. The hardest part was holding my mouth open for 2 hours.
The hot ass dental assistant was holding the impression form in my mouth for like 10 mins at a time. She said I could relax my jaw some but don't clamp down and bite her. She said, if you bite me, I have my other hand free to slap the sh*t out of you. (We constantly flirt when I go in for appointments) At that point I started to raise one eyebrow lick her finger to let her know I like the rough stuff....;) Yup, I got slapped.....:D
