What do you think the smallest boat that could handle Parker in mid afternoon on a weekend without getting hammered?

I have a 26'r and we do not get beat up in Parker on the weekends. You would probably be ok with an Ultra 24' Stealth, I hear those are great in the chop.

You definitely need a 35' + which really limits your options on turning around...so you might want to just scratch the whole Parker idea and go Havasu :)

25',26' Cats are a lot of fun on Parker. They will eat up the afternoon chop well and you can run pinned from foxs to the blue water. It is a fun stretch of water in a cat, anything bigger then 25-26 gets to be a pain with the current.

I have also seen a Fountain docked there that had to have been 40+ feet.
Boats take a beating on that dock. I usually head straight for the sandy beach just inside the wall. Tie off to the palm tree. I have seen a dock ball go flat and really mess up a boat. You have to pay attention to others antics there as well.
My tunnel Lavey is on the hook for most of Saturday. To fawking rough. Sundays are good. Mondays rock.
For Saturday rut, gut, and bounce I would say something over 24 feet. If everybody drove a cat there would be less wake I would think.

LOL...You would have to fight Del(erious) for that spot :) in his 38 Fountain.....his MO is to drop in at Moonridge drive directly to RR.....(hours go by)....drive directly back to Moonridge and on to the trailor....

It would be great if there was a limit on the length of a boat on the Parker Strip. The reason could be that over certain size it would be unsafe to navigate that stretch of waterway.

We have been going since 1985 and had a place on the strip jsut below the dam for a while. You didn't mention what you want to do with it...straight line fast, room for kids or big party, ski?
Persoanlly we ran 21-22 jets for skiing and worry free navigation and a JC Tritoon for floating. When it got insane we sat in the canbana or on the dock, drank beer and watched the kaos float by. If mass nudity broke out on a passing floatilla then we would just launch the jet ski :D

IMO (which isn't worth much) anything big enough to handle that kind of chop is too big for Parker. We just shut down for a few hours on the weekends and float or kick back and go back out in the evening when it's calmed down.

I'd say a stoker in the 21+range. I've ridden in multiple stokers there and they all seem to really handle the water pretty well.
That coming from someone who goes there all the time.
I would also hit up RD with this question. Especially since he was riding on so many boats last season ;)

I like to run up and down the strip. I have no kids and don't like having too many people on my boat, unless they are all half-naked young girls! And pulling someone behind the boat just slows things down.
My day at the river:
Get in the boat go down the river to Badenoch's eat breakfest.
Go up to the river to the dam at a high rate of speed then float for down for a bit.
When done floating go down to sandbar near the casino to see if anyone is there yet.
When hungy go up river to Road Runners then back to the sandbar.
Last run of the day at dusk when water is glass from the sandbar back to the keys.

A lot of the time it depends on when you go. Some times you would be fine in a little 18' flat. Sometimes my 26' cat would get bounced around. My ideal boat would either be a 224 Stoker or be somewhere around 28-30'.

the first thing is your age,if your in your 20's you dont know what getting hammered is then probaly a 21ft boat would be ok,i had one for 8 years in parker and loved it a few years back.rode in one this past summer and its not for me when its rough out.been in bordsmnj stoker one day i about shit my guts out it was so rough so i know parker can get rough. if i was using it only on weekends i lean towards the bigger boats 24-26ft cat or vee.i have a 28ft deckboat but it can get to be a handfull with anchoring, current and such and just the hauling around people and clean up afterwards suck bigtime.im thinking my next boat will be a nice 24ft open bow that only holds 2 people and a dog!
