The Vogues are cool, I still have my first Vogue Concave. If I get ambitious I will get it down from the rafters and shoot a photo with my more current Mahas.

That shouldn't be a big problem, I was involved in water ski racing up until two years ago. Kind of like riding a bike.

I got the yellow Vogue for my 16th birthday, which makes it 30 years old. It was the purfect "Lake Arrowhead weekend chop" ski. The white one I found on ebay and won the auction at $9.99, it cost more for shipping than the ski. It still had the original binding so I put the plates on and my son uses it. Oh ya....there both triple tunnels so they don't turn great but they're very stabile.

A family friend worked for Sam Romano at Vogue back in the 60's. I recall that I was going to buy a used "banana" Vogue from a friend just as they released the new "concave slalom" model. Bruce suggested that it would be a much better ski for me, and I think I paid a whopping $60 for a new one with full bindings and a bag. I don't know what year they first released them, I would guess about 38 years ago. Guess that says something about how long I have been water skiing.

Yeah, that's what I thought. We docked at Kokomos one day. While headed back to the houseboat in Steamboat, I decided I wanted to try skiing again instead of wakeboarding. 4 tries later, I gave up. Of course, I don't recall how many drinks I had at Kokomos, either. Could've been the problem as I have been back up since then. Didn't ski at all last year though.

How about some pictures of wake jumping skis.
The Vogue Square Tail, Connelly Wake Special, HO Vertical Air, all make great jumpers. I can even get my fat arsh a few feet in the air on my Big Daddy.

What size is your KD? I am looking at a new concept, but would like to try out some other skis.

Nothing out of the ordinary, just jumpin the wake brhind a 22' Schiada. When I landed it snapped in two. The front of the ski came up and hit me in the hand, the back half just stopped. Maha stopped making those skis because they were known to break. I skied on that ski for 3 years before it broke. I just came across another one, hopefully this one will last longer. They are the funnest play skis I have skied on. Its a 360 with lots of rocker and only weighs 6lbs.

Don't have any pics but my first ski was an Obrien Bandit I got for my 8th birthday. Currently I'm riding a 2002 70" CDX double wrap with Venom bindings. My Dad has his old Vogue's with the single and double concaves. Love seeing the piece of carpet in the rear toe plate. He also has a 1986 HO Mach 1, and I just bought him a 2004 HO.

H20ski2fast - was that your short rope training ski? What length rope are you using when training? Do you have the bridles set up for being wrapped up on your short rope? I've got a Maha long board with Bemis double wraps that I like, though I'm still getting up to speed on the ski. I'm one of those new guys that you can put on just about anything and I would like it. Just being behind the boat at around 4K is happiness to me. (With more experience and strength, the speeds will go up)
I've got my mom's old Murdock with steps in it (like Nordic halls and other offshort style boats - It was a proto ski in the early 80's that my mom used to hall ass on) that I'm in the process of refinishing. I'll then put a set of full boots off my HO slalom ski. If I like the way the ski handles, I'll have Bemis make me up another set of bindings. I should get some photos up. My parents barn is lined up with old school ski racing decks - tips all painted international orange.
Only recently starting to appreciate the speed ski racing stuff. Before, was very much focused on slalom skiing around the bubbles on Nacimiento. First ski - the connelly hook - wood style. The Jobes during the mid 80's were too light in my opinion and handled like crap on rougher water. I have an HO that I like now, which I've been on since 97. I know, I need to get photos together.

H20ski2Fast's training these days consists of skiing to the bar from the house, and then training is over! He's pretty good at coaching from the chopper but otherwise who really knows???
Only guy that ever tossed the handles behind my Schiada and complained about it being "too rough"
Just F'ing with you Dennis, you big swinger lover you...

Sweet! I still have my ski and my parents bought it for me from the old Nautical Inn ski shop back in 1986. Learned how to ski on it over in a cove right south of Havasu Landing. The ski was black with orange and yellow.

sounds like we have a lot in common with our water ski past and the type of skiing we enjoy. I'm almost positive that ski is at my parents house but have no doubt I'll hang it on the wall at the river house one day :)

Sagaruo s/p during the summer after work. Lately we have been going to Canyon Lake. It is pretty much empty except a few fishermen. I am looking into two private lakes that are by my house and seeing what it is going to take in dollars to get on the lake daily. It has to get homeowner approval, and I may only end up with an hour a day.
We also go to Lost Lake, Big River and Needles during the summer.

What's the Maha on the far right? I have an old black Maha fiberglass race ski that sure looks alot like that...it's alot shorter than the late style wood race skis.
Also have a couple late style maha race skis, a couple maha fiberglass 360's and a few wood 360's as well as 4 Vogues sqarebacks (one sweet Vogue stars and stripes ski) and a couple Verticle Air's, the early one and the late one (stiffer). I know pics would be better but that's alot of work damn it. Also a couple wood sqareback Taperflex wakejumpers. They look like they would work well but they are REALLY flexy. I prefer stiff.
What else is out there? BTW, my fav ski to use is old fiberglass 360, for some reason it just feels so right. Best ski ever made. Wife rides/loves her Vogue wood squareback. It's more narrow than my 360.
That's my once per year post. Out.
