Let's make this interesting. Can anyone correctly identify ALL these boats by boat name, owner, and driver? See below. :)

Tell you what, since I don't have my web site up yet which makes it hard to see what products I have for sale, a $50.00 gift certificate to the winner wouldn't make much sense. So let me do this, I'll send a $25.00 check for beer money to the first person who can correctly ID all by boat name, owners name, and drivers name. Of course if there is something the winner needs that I can supply I'll give $50.00 off on it. You can figure that I have everything and it's all at comparable prices. Let's end the contest say, Saturday, 11/16/02 at 12:00 midnight.

Third boat down is one I purchased shortly thereafter and ran as a blown gas river flat for about 3-4 years. Since I don't know all the rest the boats I'll not reveal this one so you guys can go for the prize ligit. :)

I didn't intend for this to be impossible. :o :( In fact, I was posting the pictures and the little contest thing just came to me as an after thought. I figured some of you west coast guys would know these boats being that they mostly ran out your way. Being from the East I barely had occasion to see them run, but I suppose being heavily involved in racing I couldn't help but know what was going on. I guess your all much younger than I thought. I don't know who all is still available to ask, but being most of you seem fairly resourceful, I thought at least somebody would get the info from someone from that era that's still in the business, Ray Brown, Phil Bergeron, Al LaPoint, SOMEBODY. Oh well.
NEW DEAL. TAKE A SHOT AT IT. PM YOUR ANSWERS TO ME. WHOEVER GETS THE MOST CORRECT ANSWERS WINS THE 25 BUCKS. FAIR ENOUGH? I'LL POST A WINNER NO LATER THAN MONDAY, MIDNIGHT (PST). :)
Sorry SANGSTER, I know this still doesn't really help you out.

A note to all: Just because somebody might say they know how many ever of them, don't assume that they know them correctly. :D I've already received some wrong answers. :p Take a guess anyway. You don't have to worry, I'm not going to point out any mistakes. Who knows you may win. wink

Phil is still around, but too busy to ask. And besides that, I owe him money. :D

Congrats 222,
So who is K140?

Sked
11-19-2002, 12:23 AM
Here's the answers I had:
K-14 Chuck Boyd's HOBBIT driven by Bob Long
K-28 Bob Goettle's EPIDEMIC driven by Bob Goettle
K-99 Rick William's TROJAN GHOST driven by Dick Bennett
K-109 Lee Anderson's MISS DOWNTOWN driven by Julian Pettengill
K-90 Bill Moore & Val Wheeler's DARK SIDE OF THE MOON driven by Ron O'Brien
K-140 ?????????????????????????????????????????????????? ??????????????
I thought I knew K-140 and had figured the answer to be: "The Outcast", owner Steve Earl, driver Lonnie Fluent because that was one of the few if not the only boat to run a wing. I figured after I made this a contest that I should investigate to see if I had all the correct answers. :o That's when I came to find out that the number on "The Outcast" was K-26, not K-140 :( . I'm still not certain who K-140 is. If anyone out there knows, please fill us in.

Just for the record, the winners of the Western Divisionals that year in the V-Drive classes were: KRR, Julian Pettengill in MISS DOWNTOWN, the old COLDFIRE; the Pro Comp winner was Tommy Barron who was virtually unbeatable that year in # PC-8 named SPRINT 76, a Barron Sprint (what else) owned by Al Gundstrom; in SK, Win Phillips squeeked out George Nordling on time for the win; and Super Stock was won by Julian Pettengill (no surprise there) driving Gil Suiter's NEVER ENUFF.

I was offered the following information concerning the identity of K-140 from John Hart of Revenge Boats: "the K is Butch Bowers and the GREEN DRAGON". Thanks John.
