The latest Powerboat has an article on the Laveycraft 27 Sabre. Here are the two quotes I thought were funny.
"With all the outrageous color combos you see in West Coast boats, this one is refreshing," said our inspector.
"And because it's such a departure from the norm, it will stand out just as much, maybe even more, as those boats with every color under the sun."
LOL, was he looking at the same boat I'm looking at in the article?
Well, here is the boat in question. The colors I see are silver, yellow, blue, green, red, white, and black. Not quite every "color under the sun", but pretty close to it.:D Definitely not my favorite scheme. Looks like a clown threw up on it. Form your own opinions.

I saw it at the boat show and was wondering about the color combo as well. Definitely will stand out in the crowd.

I like a design theme that makes the boat look like it is in motion (forward that is), and that design scheme makes the boat look like it is going in circles (like a good flush).

They need to farm that stuff out to Billy B and quick!

The thing that cracks me up the most is the fact that they say it doesn't use every color under the sun....WTF? That boat has more colors on it than most.

Is it just me or is the stitching on the seats real cheap looking? It may have been the camera?

I saw it at the boat show. While I definitly don't like the wild ass shit I thought it looked pretty good.

I don't mind the paint, but then again I'm a Kachina owner...;)
I was more surprised at the price of that thing. 160k for a single engine 27' boat??????:jawdrop: I know it's loaded but I can't imagine many buyers for a smaller boat at that price. For 160k, there's a laundry list of quality, bigger and faster late late model boats on the market.

No doubt there are a lot of options in that price range. Base price for the Sabre is ~ $75,600. That one has some spendy upgrades - the Ilmor MV10 is a $54,437 upcharge alone, plus another $17,500 in gel and lamination upgrades. You can dertainly build one MUCH cheaper.

I think they are trying to appeal to the alternative lifestyle.

From what? Two Hamsters and a wheel? I doubt that Illmore costs 54k to buy outright, let alone an upgrade charge from some previous motor?

Yah that is a pretty bad gel. Domn8ter had some fugly gels too. Especially their orange cat in the back of the booth.

I have no idea, all that data is per January '07 Hot Boat Magazine.

Gelcoat designs are of course subjective. And that Sabre fits into that category.
But I have to say, Lavey is definately one of the best in terms of gelcoat graphics and execution, And its been that way for the last few years.

Nice lay out of the graphics, but I think it could be a lil less colorful.

Know am going to get flamed for this but man. I could buy a fleet of those Bayliner 175's and drive a different one everyday for the entire season. :D
