Here is some of the info I have gathered already from shops! From boateres its a little diferent in opinions;)
Shop 1. tapered
Shop 2. Backut
Shop 3. tapered
Shop 4. tapered
Hull is 525lbs with good power 850-900hp ;)
My reason for doing this is to see what others are doing and then make a decision. I like to gather ideas and form my own. I already know that I will have to experience with my particular setup. I am working on a baseline. I dont want to get wet or hurt myslef You experienced guys know exactly what I am talking about. We boat in very rough water so I need to be a litle conservative;)

start with a 2 degree backcut at 13 1/4 inch opening .030 thousandths above the keel and ur motor probably 23 to 24 inches from the transom and go from there i think thats very safe and somewhat conservative.

396, i'm glad your asking all the same questions i have floating around in head about my tx-19 too. mine has a tapered shoe on it rite now, and it was set level with keel, and i was told that's sweet spot for "all-around" performance and not so deep that it throws me on the wheel on shut down:( me and you are building almost the same boat, but i goin blown 475(@800hp), your goin stroker.i'm gonna play with my shoe depth once i get the condor back on the water, i'm really excited!this'll be my 1st boat to attempt triple digits with:D

That's the set up. 2 degree backcut shoe is the way to go. I run mine about a 1/8 above keel. Lower than that they want to land very hard.

Run the shoe you have ... Jason ran over 100 w/ it ... w/o the bottom being done.
I'd start there ... it had no shim, that tapered shoe & 1.5* up on the ride plate ... ran 104 w/ a major spoon/hook in the bottom.
I dunno nuthin ... but if it ain't broke, well you know the sayin'
:D
