People often complain of the profit the oil companies make. Simply, it is based on world wide volume, period. It might only be a few cents per gallon at the pump, but when you yearly pump 100 Million gallons world wide, (just a guess) those few cents add up quickly. If Mc Donalds sold that many burgers they would be in the same situation with outlandish profits for the public to bitch about.......MP

What's interesting about those tables is that the Govt. (State, Local and Fed) are, on average, bringing in more money per gallon than the oil company profit.
Where's the outcry on the "obscene" profit that the govenment is making? If the oil companies are gouging the consumer, what is the Govt. doing? And the Govt. doesn't have to put out any effort or costs to get that money, except send a Dept. of Weights and Measures inspector to the stations once a year.

But Al Gore thinks fossil fuel taxes arn't high enough and more and more Dems are calling for a "profits tax" on oil.

you may recall paul tsongos...paul tax on gas wanted to raise the fed tax to $1 per gallon...would've made ya'll buy more fuel efficient vehicles. Wouldn't have done a thing for any other purpose than increase fed revenues.
this is the same end result but with a new name. Make note to self. a rose by any other name smells just as sweetly.

So now we all can see where this Global Warming or Climate Change is going....Getting set up for another "fossil fuel" tax, just another money grab by the Liberals, it will do nothing to curb greenhouse gases.

Don't know how much stock to put in those numbers. It states that it is based on producing one BBL of gas from one BBL of oil. Last I heard only about 1/2 BBL of gas was produced from one BBL of oil.

In other studies the results have been similer. When you break it down, government is the big winner in oil money in this country.
