The wife and I are on our own now, kid is grown up (not out of the house, but grown). We are looking to take a vacation on our own. I have a week in July scheduled. I have a house in Havi, so that isn't really anything new and exciting. I kind of want to go north, Washington, Canada, something like that. Maybe a cruise, maybe something else. I have an RCI timeshare in havi that I don't use, so perhaps deposit my week into something up there? I dunno. How about some ideas. Anyone wanna buy a week in Havi?

My dad took a cruise to Alaska then returned via the N/W passage - a land trip. He absolutely loved it.....unfortunately it takes two weeks (one for the cruise and one for the land trip).

Along the coast of Washington state and Oregon are several great places to check out. Oak Harbor Washington in July you can check out the whales that come into the harbor to mate. Then catch a boat for Alaska.

The cruise to Alaska is cool if you like to hang with the blue hairs. :2purples: I would go to Vancouver for a few days then take the ferry over to Vancouver Island and check out Victoria. Lots to explore on the Island. :D

Rent a harley bagger or a gold wing and cruise the PCH all the way to oregon, do about 300 miles a day, spectacular views up the coast, and the mountain roads in oregon up by medford are killer on a motorcycle cause you always have a 360 view.

Our Canada trips consisted of a few days in Vancouver BC, ferry to Vancouver Island, a stay at a B&B in Ucluelet on the ocean, Nanaimo, back on the ferry to Whistler and back to Vancouver. We also did Boston, Vermont, New Hampshire, through to Portland, Maine, ferry to Nova Scotia, Halifax, back around and ferry back to Bar Harbor Me.
Both coasts, truly God's country.

If you want beauty, the Canadian Rockies are a must see. If you go in July make it to Calgary and hit the Stampede and the Night Show Spectacular. Then on to Banff the Elk capital of the world, Lake Louise is a must the Ice fields were you go out on a glacier in a monster bus. (this is cool) Golden hot springs is great. They also have a swedish themed village up there.
If you drive (which you should) you can go the Idaho pan handle and see Coure de Lene, MaCall, and others. (Beautiful)
Or you can go through Glacier National Park and go over the going to the sun road. And after you get in Alberta take a little detour and go see Head Smashed in Buffalo Jump. (I know the name sounds crazy but is well worth it)
Oh and besides Kimmy and Tom the people in Alberta are some of the nicest people there are.
