A rig in our camping group just pull in for the first time with their new 5'er.
The folks he bought the rig from gave him cinder blox for the jacks.
The cinderblox crushed,, first time out:
Moral: Use wood for your jacks:

Damaged the bed of his Pick up, put not a scratch on the 5'er.

But on a good note, everyone still had a good time in spite.

thats a big bummer. i try to use no more than a 2x?. even that block he is useing in the pic can be a mistake. allways try and extend the front jacks as much as possible, thats what they are for. once you got the trailer level its a good idea to use a front stabilizer jack from the king pin.

not that I would ever use a cinder block for that application, but let me guess: the rv owner set the cinder block on the ground sidways with the
opening parrallel to the ground-??

i was thinking the same thing...:eek: from the looks of the broke parts that looks like what happened
