Cas I was browsing through "Laid back boaters"web site yesteday.I saw this pic of two boats from teamgreen.I have been trying to I.D. a hull that I have ,and from what I can tell The red boat inthe pic looks like it.He said in a thread that the red boat was a 73 or 75 Schuster.
I was wandering if You have seen this boat and tell me if they are the same ,or maybe know where I can see more pics of this red boat?
Maybe Old Rigger can Look at them and tell if they are the same.I know You(Old Rigger) have tried to help Me with this I.D. before.
There are no hull HIN numbers on the hull, and it is registered as a 75 Tahiti,But I have never seen another hull like it.
The red boat is the only one that I have ever seen that even resembles it.It is also listed as an 18ft but I think It is A 16 fter.Any way any help would be appreciated.Thank's.........Halhttp://www.***boat.com/image_center/data/520/27743399Redfish-med.jpg

Hal, the boat in that pic belongs to "Teamred" a friend of "Teamgreen". I've seen it and it is not a 16 footer. If you want info on it try getting a hold of TeamGreen on Banderlog (http://www.banderlog.com/phpbb/) or Jetboatsnmore (http://www.jetboatsnmore.com/forum/). He also posts on RiverRatLife as "Icetom".
For reference, this is the classic Tahiti 16, 1971 I think. It belonged to a friend of mine 20+ years ago. Note the way the transom corners are cut away at an angle.

Thanks for the info ,Old Squirt.I agree that the pic You posted is not like mine and I don't think it is really a Tahiti, nor does old rigger, but could it be a schuster.Iam not sure the size.It measures 17ft and some change, but that is across the top and not the keel.any way I will post some more pic's,in hopes that someone has seen one.....Hal

Hal, I posted the pic of the 16 Tahiti since it was a Schuster/Tahiti and went back into the late 60's, as well as to point out the length difference. Must admit that TeamRed's boat is the first that really does resemble yours. Like I said, get in touch with Tom(Teamgreen) directly and he can put you in touch with the owner.
Also, don't put too much stock in the advertised length of a boat. Manufacturer's usually "rounded up" so even a hull less than 17 and 1/2 feet could conceivably be advertised as 18'.

Hal,
As Oldsquirt said, contact Teamgreen to get ahold of Teamred for info. You're right about the boats, they do look very similar! I remember seeing your posts in the past and I agree about it not looking like a Tahiti from 1975. I had a Tahiti brochure from '75 and there wasn't a boat in it that looked like yours. That's not saying it wasn't made, it just wasn't in the advertisement.

Thank's CAS.Yea You are probobly right,I realy don't think it is a Tahiti, but maybe it is somthing that Schuster built before Tahiti was started?
The hull is a light layup with shorty stringers,I do like the looks of the Hull,It seems to be a rare and unique hull.Any ways,Thanks for You Guy's help....Hal

Rob,
The above pics of the silver/white boat is Hal's.
Hal,
I like the lines of your hull also, it's a real good looking boat! How far along are you with it? Is it running? Sorry if you've gone over all that already in previous threads.

Ah. I can't always see the pictures in threads while at work; they are sometimes blocked by the firewall. Switched over to my alternate connections and can see it fine now.

Hey CAS,I have only just started restoring it.All the frames.stringers and transome are rotted out.The pump is in good shape and it had a454bbc in it.It came with a,practicly brand new tandom axle trailer.
I am working on it a little, while I am waiting on My motor (454 stroker(489))To be built, for my 73 Kona.Which brings me to another subject.I would like to see more pics of the Kona that was in Hot Boat,In the article about You'r Club(Lad Back Boater's).
Any way for any that are intrested,I will post up a few more pic's.Again Thank's for the help........Hal

There was nothing before Tahiti for schuster. Well there was, in Austraila, and another short lived deal here in Ca, but these were all early 60's stuff. Tahiti was started in '64.
I remember your boat but don't remember what I said about who built it. If the title says Schuster, or Tahiti, (one in the same) why fight it. At the same time the little 16 was being built, by the 70s, there was probably over a dozen other models being offered. I ceartainly don't remember them all, just the ones I really liked. lol There's a guy a few neighborhoods over that has one of the strangest, ugliest boats I've ever seen that he's restoring. I stopped one day to check it out, and to see just who would restore such a thing, yep, it was a Tahiti. His parents bough it new and he just loves the poor bastard.
here's a link to one in the trader that's been inthere for months, looks kinda like your from the one shitty picture in the ad............

Hal,
I don't have too many pictures of Tim's Kona. Tim bought a Placedraft a couple of years ago and has been using it more often than the Kona since then. Here's one pic that was easily found
http://www.laidbackboaters.com/16737b30.jpg
Tim did a lot of work to the Kona...got it to 82 mph with an Olds! He goes by PlacecraftTim here on HB and would probably be more than happy to give some info on the Kona.

Hey Old Rigger,Thanks For chiming in.You were trying to help Me out With this the last time i posted this hull,as a matter of fact,I think that is the same boat that You showed me last time.It sure does look like it.With as many tahiti owners and lovers out there,I would have thought I would have seen another one like it?
Maybe I will try and take a pic of mine from the same angle as the one in the trader, for comparison.Thank's again..Hal

Hey Old Rigger,Here are pics of the two hulls .Pretty damn close don't You think,If not exact!
Well Ithink they are the same, and the one in the trader is a 73 Tahiti and listed as a 19 footer.I think 19ft is pushing it a little.Mine could bareley be said to be 18ft,unless you count the length of the pump too......Hal

Hal,
I'm glad you made contact with him, Tim is a pretty good guy and he sure got that Olds and Kona running real well. The only bad thing, you've got a heck of a target to shoot for ;)
Tom (Teamgreen) is also a good guy and I'm sure he'll get you in touch with Teamred.
