The motor looks sweet. I look forward to seeing how this boat runs with that power. I've had thoughts about doing a Raylar to mine next off season ???
JM

kamguy
04-07-2007, 03:55 PM
i had that raylar built for my 27. its the one raylar and dana tested. dana is saying 555hp to be on the safe side, but it made 565hp at 5100rpm. jw and i thought a teague 900 would be nice combined with the light layup. so we upgraded mine to make sure everyone on lake st clair will know all about that blue west coast cat.
built a raylar for my 2500hd also.404hp and 487tq at the wheels.

ULTRA26 # 1
04-07-2007, 04:35 PM
Is the bottom end of the 496 stock???
Teague builds amazing motors. I've been a fan of Teague for about 12 years. Shippingguy's 27 with an TCM 800 runs great. The TCM 900 in a light 27 should run right around 115. Is your 27 the metalic aqua flamed one? If so, great color choice. Don't think I've seen a metalic gel anywhere near that color.
John M

kamguy
04-07-2007, 05:08 PM
yeah the bottom end is stock, but nobody thinks it will be a problem. the stock pistons don't like boost and the rest should be ok with the revs at stock levels. it got a bad rap from people bolting on blowers with the stock pistons.
that's my blue boat. i just got back to michigan after visiting ultra. we changed up the graphics a little and went over all the little details they are so good at.

Are you referring to mine?? If so, I can say that it runs real good for what it is. THe CMI's definately made a difference. Another 10 or 15 would putin th low 90's which is about all I would feel comforable in a deckboat.

i drank a few beers and thought i needed the teague 900 in my 27, so jw bought it.
ray told me a couple days ago that he is indeed working on the new intake covers with the higher hp number.
your getting one of the best raylar motors out there. ray personaly built, dynoed and tuned it with the dana exhaust. :D

A motor built and tuned by Ray, with CMI's, would be nice in my 26. Maybe that will work out someday. Seems to me that making that kind of HP reliable with cast pistons, is all about a tune and octane.
Back on topic, Hfmnhoe's 27 should run good with this setup. I looking foward to seeing this boat on the water.

i wish it wasn't 2,044.04 miles to havasu (mapquest) so my family could see all of your boats. :(
our 8.1/raylar truck was tuned on a chassis dyno so air/fuel is spot on. we beat it constantly shifting at 5,500. it's also also used as a shop truck. can you imagine how my guys drive it when i'm not around?
no hicups and decent mileage. even the jaded guys at the dyno shop were impressed.(paul's high performance) it's a standard cab, so i'm gonna tow the new 27 with it when i don't need all that passenger capacity.
i'll update you guys on this very abused raylar engine, but we don't forsee any problems.

the top of the manifold has a groove in it for the fuel rail crossover. if it wasn't for that it would look sweet. that makes it kind of look unfinished without the cover plate. maybe jason would be kind enough to take an overhead pic and post it. i think it will look pretty pimp with the cover ray is getting made.
