Set in epoxy? 2"-3" die grinder, mask and some time. Take out the bolts first.

Remove all the nuts, then knock the intake bolts out of the hull, from the top, using a drift punch. this knocks it loose from the epoxy, and pops the epoxy off the heads. Place a floor jack under the intake, and apply some light pressure on the intake. I whizz wheel grinder can be used to remove a good portion of the bedding epoxy, this eases the removal a bunch. Finish chipping out the remaining exposed epoxy, with a sharp wood chisel, be careful as to not damage the glass or intake during this process. A block of 2X4 and a good size sledge can be used to knock the remaining epoxy loose, just be careful again with the force used. A few pounces on the hull, with the floor jack in place, your intake should pop out with out too much fuss.

The intake popped right out. This is the problem spot from the inside. That end of the intake popped loose first. I think it was a little loose and allowed stuff th flow under the glass. Just need to do some grinding and glass.

I don't know what the black stuff is, but it sands like rubber!!! I want to sand and refinish the bilge while I am in there.
Thought somebody might like progress pics. I wll keep posting progress.

While you got it torn down, might consider weighing it:) To see if she is holding any water, that she should'nt. Also to see what your working with for set-up;)

That black stuff is a royal PIA. My last project had a coating of it thruout the inside of the boat. I wonder if it is to keep oil, and other crap from soaking into the glass?

I here some people using bed liner spray or roll on stuff. Might be under coating as well. Or some form of it.

What he said... my stringers were coated in that black undercoating shit. I had to remove it to check my stringers for rot. I tried grinding, It... all it did was clog up disks fast. the best thing I found was to take a old 5 in 1 tool and warm it up with the toruch and use that as a scraper.
