The formula for homemade octane boost is 100 oz. of toluene
25 oz. of mineral spirits
3 oz. of transmission fluid
They say it costs less than 5.00 to make a gallon (8 16 oz bottles)
Anybody made or used this stuff...does it work...what does it raise the octane level to..
The main ingredient in octane boost is toluene and you can buy it at paint stores for less than 4.00 a gallon...

With a 3:1 mixture you should be somewhere around 100. I prefer Xylene myself.
Whichever one you use, make sure you've got a new fuel filter handy. If there's ANY crud in the tank it will get cleaned up and find it's way into the filter.

Where can it be found for 4 bucks.
I saw a 5 gal can of Xylene at Frazee for about 80 bucks. I was told Toluene is not available in CA without a special permit.
I just bought race fuel (F&L SP-1) and the can identified Toluene as the main ingredient.
