One suspect was killed and two Metro officers were injured after a violent shootout late Monday night. One officer was shot six times and is just out of surgery and doing okay, sleeping comfortably. The other officer has since been released from the hospital.
The shooting happened around 11 p.m. in a subdivision on Edna near Cimarron. During the shootout a suspect was killed.
Eyewitnesses tell Eyewitness News the incident started at a Sushi Restaurant on Sahara and Cimmarron. They say the suspects tried to carjack a vehicle and police were called.
Eyewitnesses say the officers followed the suspects to the subdivision on Edna, and that's when the shooting occurred. Police say two men were taken into custody late last night.
Metro says they cannot confirm how the shooting started or the events leading up to it. They are interviewing several suspects at this time.
This is the third officer involved shooting this year.
