Its time to buy a new, bigger Enclosed Trailer. I'm looking for a 24' (or 26')Enclosed Trailer (tandem or triple axle) but must be 10,000lb GVW, rear ramp, side door and chrome wheels.
I'm debating between the Haulmark Thriffy, Pace American Rallye, or a custom Ultra Hauler. Thoughts and opinions are needed. Any other builder suggestions?
Any great hookups? Need it by April 1!!!!
Thanks,
Patrick

If you go with a 24 ft, then tandem in fine, but if you go to a 28ft, like I have, go with a triple axle, I have a tandem 28 ft and it's to long, I think, for tandems, If I don't get my car and other stuff in there just right, she is all over the road.

Just curious-- I have heard mixed opinions on triple-- why do you say no triple?
Also- any advice on axles: torsion or leaf springs?
Thanks,

I just bought a used Haulmark 24' trailer. Looks OK to me, but I haven't done anything with it yet, just put it in the backyard. I read you can get a new Ultra Hauler for like $5500 or so out of some place in CA. I read that info on gd.com.
The places here in town sell the Haulmarks for crazy $$.

Exactly - Haulmark in Phx new are big $$$. I'd rather spend the money on quality so I don't have to buy another anytime soon-- trying to get some options and nicer features on ANY of the brands I choose.
I learned about Ultra Haulers "lurking" in GD.com also. Spoke with them today- Its cheaper to get a 24' with triple axles (3500lb each) vs the tandem (5000lb axles) - base trailer is $6265 for a 24'. They seem to have the best deal thus far but I have a few new good contacts now on PACE-- so we'll see :D

Nice trailer -- the interior finishing on yours is awesome. I plan on just doing the ply wood floor and ply sides with ratchet connections for securing items.

Is that a 10K GVW ?? -- if so, that's a steal. I could barely get a 7K GVW basic Haulmark for that - spent a few hours last weekend looking. Any good contacts?

If your looking for quality, Sport Trailers in San Bernadino is top notch. They're not the cheapest, but totally custom built to exactly what you want. I've got a 26' with dual 7.5K axels and 16" wheels. I hate the tire scrub on triple axle trailers.

Our stacker trailer is made by CargoMate. ( http://www.cargomatetrailer.com/ )
Pretty nice trailer for the $$ we spent on it. Dunno if you have dealers down there though, they are built in Oregon.

When making tight turns the trailer will pivot on the center axle srubbing the tire. That will be the tire always blowing out in the midddle of nowwhere, in the middle of the night, on a dark desert highway:D Go with the torsions over the leaf springs, trailer rides better.;)

I second that. Kenny makes a top quality trailer. There was a used one at Wayne Head RV in San Bernardino. Not sure of the GVW but it was a 26 ' almost brand new. (if it's still there) call Wayne 909-889-6000

How does that stacker tow, What I mean is, down the hwy at speed (70 to 75) two cars in there, does she sway alot being a bumper pull, Have looked into those but not sure about them, If you pull it with a big RV, it should be fine but what about a Pickup.

Well, its towed behind our 45' Prevost and was supposed to go behind our GM C5500 but we are in suit with GM on that truck.
Until our F450 gets here I dont know on that. The Prevost you dont even know its there.

First myself I like the torsion set up as that is what I have and never had a problem.
When you turn a trailer with triples even with double you are draging the front tires, they like to roll over and with a triple it's a lot worse. Some people even rip the hub off or snap studs. plus I think it hurts the steel belt in the tires. I do also tow a triple 42 besides my 32 but we run triples on that trailer because of weight. Just my thoughts on towing for many years.

Take a look at these guys!
http://www.aluminumtrailer.com/index.php
I had them build me one and it turned out very very nice. it ended up only a little more then what a Haulmark would have been. It towed awsome and was way lighter then any other trailer its size. Towing on salted roads the all Alum works really nice.
They have a bunch in stock and you can make an offer on one. Spend a little more and buy the best you can get. You will thank me 4 years from now when all the steel trailers are rusted and falling apart. Plus think of all the money you will save in gas with a lighter trailer.
I ended up selling my trailer for very close to what I paid. You could not do that with a old rusted steel trailer. I used it for 2 years and only lost about 10% on the sale.

Thanks guys- I'm going to get a few more research days in, make a few calls and see what happens. I'll keep you up to date-- any other advice is appreciated.
QUESTION - 24' +, 10K GVW - should I run a weight distribution hitch or my standard Pivot Hitch? I tow with a 06 Duramax lifted 6" on 35's.

I would use a WD Hitch. Tows much better.

If not a WD hitch, then I would at least run a sway bar. That will help keep it straight on the highways.
