Not really Jet Boat related. I want to EFI my BBC Nordic Jet. I already converted a tunnel ram for EFI. I now have to make an upper box and adapter plate. So I decided to make my own sheet metal brake. Found some rough drawings online somewhere and beefed it up from there. Here is a picture of .100 alum 5052 test sheet that I bent. It also bends a lot thicker stuff as well. This only cost me 10 bucks in scrap and a couple of hours.

Nice work on some of those jet parts.
Nice fab work on the benches also.

Good for you for having the balls to go for EFI.
You must have been hanging around that "Turbo Mustang" site. :D
If you can use it a local guy has a left over Haltech E6K like I have for $ 500.
I can give you my program which has the maps real accurate. (free)
Injectors can be bought reasonable on ebay.
Finding sources to buy the parts from reasonable is a huge advantage.
I paid too much for my stuff because I didn't know where to shop.
Having people to call who can walk you through some of the challenges will really help you too.
The megasquirt site has some real good EFI info on it.

Thanks Unchained. Here is a pic of the converted tunnel ram.

Tj,looked at your web site and you do some nice work.I put EFI on my boat last year and i really like it.I did something similar only it's gonna be twin-turbocharged.I have a bunch of ideas so i'm selling my old set-up and building a new one. Here is a intercooler box we built that has 2-1000 hp intercoolers in it.Keep the pics coming, looking good.

texas-19,
That manifold and intercooler box look real nice.
Take a pic inside the box so I can see how you supported the cores.

TJ,would you post a picture of the brake?
Looks like it works good.

Looking good. Here's a pic of a setup we're going to build this winter, except I'm going to turn the turbos 90 degrees and have the inlets toward the front.

I have to take some pics when I get to my shop this weekend. Here are the basic plans I built it off of though. They are not my plans. I want to recognize the person who did the plans. I beefed mine up a little more and put the studs in a different place too.Thanks.

Nothing fancy but it works. I just tried 1/8" alum scrap and it worked good.

You mean like Texas-19 did in this pic ?

Most people aren't into this much of a fabricating challenge.
The headers look real good.
Those Garrett GT47s are the biggest turbos I've seen on a gas engine. They remind me of the ones on the Fair Warning boat.
You can see that putting the compressor inlets facing forward makes for a challenge of piping the compressors to the throttle body(s).
Those compressors are begging to be polished.

Different, but definitely has some selling points. If he went the std route with the turbo mounted above the 3/5 and 4/6 cylinders respectively the throttlebodies can easilly be mounted between the compressor and side of his IC body. But that would negate one of the coolest factors of his design... The ability to get at the valvetrain and injectors without having to pull the turbos. The only other downer I could see is that his headers add a measurable amount of length to the motor, but if it were in a purpose built race deal, the center of gravity requirements are going to put the motor more forward anyhow.
Definitely cool stuff that's out of my league in terms of welding ability or equipment, and it's cool to see more and more people working with turbos and EFI.

Yea, pretty much like that, but with the turbos around the 3/5 and 2/4 cylinders and the outlets at 3 o'clock and 9 o'clock. Basiclally the headers will look like block-huggers flipped upside down. Gonna mount a TB on each side of the IC plenum and just have a short piece of silicone hose connecting the TB to the turbo. My buddy who'll be doing most of the fabrication and EFI work figures if we don't get 1500hp we should be slapped.

Patrolman,
If you like the turbos mounted over the valve covers a good way to go would be to buy a used set of stainless water jacketed headers and just make an adapter to the turbos and wastegates. I seen a set on the spam page a while back that that looked like a real bargain. You could run water or leave them dry.
I personally would never mount them over the valve covers even though that's the most common.

Why wouldn't you mount them over the valve covers? I figure you'd have to remove the turbos to pull the valve covers, but that's just 4 bolts and a hose clamp, and the oil lines. It seems like a pretty efficient way of mounting them and headers would be pretty simple to fab up.

X 2
It would double the amount of time it took to adjust the valves.
As much as I check the valve train It would be a major inconvenience.
