I am new to the site as I just purchased an 03 Heat a month ago. We took her out to Catalina on Jan 20th for the day... we even did a little fishing. It was an awesome day!

Nice boat, get a cover for the open bow so if you stuff it when you are in the big water you dont sink her. And wtf kind of fish is that.

We will definitely be getting a bow and cockpit cover soon. I love the boat, even if the graphics are Nordic simple... I like to think of them as clean. We added a gps and vhf before we made the trip... the gps actually has a fishfinder on it too. We fish a little just for the fun of it, but we release what we catch to keep things clean. The gps antenna had to be mounted in a position wehre it can be seen. I have grown used to it even though it is't ideal. I have no idea what that fish was... crazy looking. Here are a few more from my first night with the boat and the Catalina trip...

Yeah... I have been out around 14 times in the past month since I live 5 minutes away from Davies in Long Beach and am still in the "I have a new toy" phase. No matter how much salt away I use, I think a pic of my trailer might deter you Havasu peoples from dropping your boat in the salt... rust sucks. I am guessing I will need to step up to a galvanized within a year or two. I wouldn't use my boat much if I didn't drop it in salt though. I don't have that much time to get away for the weekend.

Hmmmmmm....
You should check the local ordinances.....
I don't think it's legal to FISH from a perfectly good POWER BOAT....
I think you need to have a center console and no vinyl interior to be legal......
Next, you'll be taking your DOG on board........
You should get to know Sbark1 & Midlife Advantage.....You guys would get along.....
Hehehehe!!!
Welcome to the Jungle !!!!

If he stuffs that boat enough to get water over the bow...
...he's got bigger things to worry about. :supp:

Tom's right. Most of us post just to post and have nothing of any importance to contribute to the boards.
You WILL find Tom to be quite witty at times-- He makes me laugh !

And wtf kind of fish is that.
Purely guessing looking at a low res monitor,, but,,,,looks similar to the famous Catalina Flying Fish found only in those waters.
We have several 10 million candlepower lites,, and at nite the lites attract them around the east end lite/seal rocks,, ya can occasionally spot them during the day too,, they sometimes fly into the boat.
Super slippery and slimy hence the towel.
Perhaps someone knows better,,,
Nice pix BTW.
Did ya make it into the Marlin club??

Cola, thanks for the welcome. PH, thanks for the SCOPE tip. Weather permitting, I am running over to Catalina with few SCOPE buddies. I've been over quite a few times with "BeattleJuice", but this will be my maiden voyage in my rig. EK, hope to see you there at the ramp in HB tomorrow.
