Planning a trip to AZ next week and I was hoping that someone might be able to let me know if there is enough water to get onto Havasu from the river. My place is in BHC and I generally put my boat in at Jack Smith, in Needles.
Thanks in advance
John M

John: I called Travis last nite and he said the water has been up at nite or at least last nite it was cuase he was searching for a lost kayaker so he was by the water. He'll try to find out next week what daytime levels are and I'll PM you, but it varies quite a lot?? The lake is getting down there, 446.3 and thats prop dinging time. NSF

Not to sound ignorant, but I don't remember the normal lake level? The last time I drove over the bridge from CA to AZ, there was plenty of water. I'm more concerned about right where the river empties into the lake. It can get shallow there.
Thanks

John: seems the average level for summer is about 448' and the mouth is very trouble free (well, I did manage to get stuck once :( ) then. I hear people always saying "just trimmer up and let her fly" but if you dont know where the little channel is by reed island then I'd rather go slow and see where I'm going than run up on the sand bar and at 446' it's close anyway you call it. But I'm old and careful so what do I know, hell I still choose the wrong path about twice a summer cause all the weeds and shore look the same to me:confused: Maybe some one can chime in on this. I'll PM you later this week with the Jack Smith level, straight from the horses mouth, opps, dont tell Travis I called him that. :D NSF PS The Hawk blew all day here!!!!!!!!!!!!

Leave a post about how Jack Smith is looking when you see it. I am thinking it is still a month away until it will be comfortable. But, who knows?

Hey John, The bottom line as of right now " Only do it if you know the channel between the reeds." If you are unsure of your path stay up river. Saw Vessel assist pulling a 23-25ish runabout out of there yesterday.

I was just out there last weekend, however i did not go to havasu. The farthest i made it was Topock. When i launched out of Jack Smith it was approximately 11am. The water level was about 5 ft coming out of the jetty. Once i was on the river the water level was running in between 9-11 ft all the way down to Topock then as you know it gets shallow to about 5 ft again going through the bridge area. That seems to be an average when you are out there during the summer maybe a couple feet deeper. I would not impose a problem with going into havasu however I would keep an eye on the water and dont haul ass. Just stay on plain and trim up...keep in mind each year the river changes so you never know what to expect.

Damn I love your boat. I wish I still had mine as a 2nd. The gel on my Cole was very similar, but mine had grey tweed cloth. Might be out Fri. but Sat for sure

I hear people always saying "just trimmer up and let her fly"
It's "Trim high and let her fly".
It has to rhyme! :D

Well I answered my own question. I made on to the Lake fron the River without any problem. It was a little shallow at the mouth, but I've seen it worse. Thanks to all for their input
Also, Jack Smith had plenty of water.
