I heard gasoline works pretty good. But if you go that route, make sure you use gloves and work in a well ventilated area.

any mineral spirt will work ( napatha, paint thiner, gas, kerosen....)
paint thiner is what most companys recomend you use for clean up.

Methyl Ethyl Keton = M.E.K.
From personal experience wear Rubber Gloves, and a Respirator Mask. Eye protection is always a good idea too.

Do you guys lay the Carpet strip by strip or do you try to make a whole pattern to lay the carpet?

just take a chunk of carpet, lay it in there, fold it back half way, smear some glue, and fold it back over onto the glue. Smooth it out, turn the other half back, smear more glue, smooth it out. Trim the edges.
Zip Zop Bam. Done.

Carpet is a oiece of cake. I've done over 200 sea rays, 5 a day for a long time. Cut it in pieces, grain pints to the back.Yup Yup Yup. And stay away from that crap glue in the spray can.

Don't use MEK... it will eat in the glass( alot worse then actone) and most likly destory the carpet. Its one of the main chemicals in paint remover.

When I stripped my carpet out, it was a 2 day chore, Brake Clean worked real well, and possed no damage to the hull. I tried gas, but the brake clean worked quicker.
As for the glue I made a mistake :( I used pool, and deck carpet glue that was water saluable. Works great if your carpet gets damp, and then has time to dry. Get it really wet and your carpet slides out from under you :( So after my wedding the carpet is coming up again. Home Depot has NON-water saluable carpet glue, this is what I will use next LOL
