i know there is only a few mopar freaks here.....but i need some help on picking the right cam for a 440....440 .30 over stock steel crank, stock 4 blr rods, trw six pack pistons(L2355)balanced.....i just got some edelbrock heads with 88cc chambers...running tunnel ram w/2 600s.....the heads will take up to 600 lift cam but i think this move the power band too high for a jet boat...running a 510 lift cam now and only getting 61mph at 4900rpm with stock 346 heads....btw it a jacuzzi wj/b pump.....any advice would be great...thanks

This is the cam I was running with my tunnel ram motor before the stage vi heads. Compression was 12:1 or so with the 906 heads and 2 600's.

Must have been a replacement for the 906 heads.

Mopar Performance 590 solid with 1.6 rockers works very well with the edelbrock heads and a tunnel ram just my 2 cents. BP

282-290 is the cam I am using in my iron motor. I like it, it has good grunt. Twisted the Jacuzzi shaft the first time out. Pulls my "A" Berk to 5000 on the dot with a single 850 carb and SB Products bowl ported "915" heads. STOCK 8.8:1 static compression(verified).
According to the impeller charts I am making 400HP. Won't set the world on fire, and I am aware of that. I have some changes in the works for it this season. 70MPH Anthony Berkcuzzi jet. :) :)
We'll see.
I think the 306 would be too "big". You would need more compression 11-12:1 in my opinion with a T-ram and that much duration.
Cstraub should chime in here, I think he was the one with the kind cam advise.
Brian
Whatever you do, don't use the aluminum rockers if that is your direction, won't live for shit, spring for the comp stainless.

that cam has a very high power band.....how do you think it will work in a jet boat?

I would have to say: Wow what a coincidence the people that do this for a living... and... one of our own, that actually uses it, both agree on a good choice for you. Aren't you glad you're here?????????
