Hey guys , working on my alternator mount and i think that it might be to close to the headers. I can drop it down another 1 1/4 if i need to. What do you think? Any input would be appretiated.
Thanks

I think the bigger problem would be interference between
the alternator and the water injection lines.

Can you post a picture of just the bracket. I need to get something like that made.

How many nuts and washers have you lost under that oil pan so far? You would gain a little more room if you mounted the Alt. on the other side.

I can hardley get one finger under there. I wish everything was like that. As far as mounting it on the other side , why didn't I think of that( lightbulb flickering)
thanks Ironman

As long as the weep holes dont drench the alternator and wiring I think yu will be fine, Ive ran mine way closer than that with no issues.

ya the motor plates and machine work in the alternator bracket is sick. Whats the rear plate look like if you don't sharing?
It always amazes me to see a motor lifted from the manifold like that. You wouldn't think it would hold but it really does.

Done on a CNC?
the Motor plates were cut on a cnc laser , everything else I have made is all manual mills and lathes . Thats the perks of running a welding and machine shop, I can make all my own shiat. LOL

Wow rear plate and fly wheel cover are sick. How thick are the plates I was told by a guy that it is hard to laser cut aluminum over 1/4 thick.

All the custom pieces are very cool! Very jealous in those regards.:boxed:
I do have a question about the angle of the engine though. That oil pan looks awful flush w/ the bilge area (meaning, it looks as though the engine is mounted at a "zero" angle to the hull).
Does the pan have a 4 deg angle on it?
Most jetdrives are mounted at a 4 deg angle.....so that requires the engine be mounted at the same 4 degree angle.....Otherwise the universal will be fighting to rotate on a center.
Just making notes from the pictures.

plates are 3/8 thick. The company that does all my laser cutting told me their new machine will cut up to 1/2 aluminum 3/4 stainless and 1" steel. The only thing they had a hard time doing was putting the holes in the in the plates but they were able to laser engrave the center line of the holes and I just drilled them out myself.

It does look like that in the pics but yes the engine is at 4 deg the pan is very close to the the hull in the rear and doesnt touch but have more room up front. I will probably more the engine up another 3/8 of an inch just to give me more room under the pan.
Ironman
thanks for the concern though

That's the same setup I'll have on my ride. Except I bought the billet polished aluminum flywheel cover for mine. But the rails and motor plates were made by ironman.

The rail kit looks great but your stringers are short and look weak. I hope it's a low perf motor. BL

when i replaced all the wood in the entire boat i did it like it was originaly and used 2 layers of fiberglass mat and 3 layers of cloth when I glassed the stringers in . I was told by a local fiberglass shop that my set up would be more than strong enough. the motor is only a 450 -500 hp bbc nothin real fancy

Thanks Man, I am just trying to get everything mocked up, then I can pull the motor back out , paint the boat, bildge, and rail kit . then I can put'r back togeather and know everything will fit as planned. I would like to have her going this summer but there is still alot of parts to buy and funds are limited right now. I an going to start another thread with progress pics soon.
