My wife and I are trying to plan some 3-4 day weekends down in Havi in the next month or two. The last time I went to Havi on a big weekend was at least 7 or 8yrs ago on 4th of July and it was the last yr the Sandbar was open.
Would we be making a mistake going down on Memorial weekend? Where is the best place to launch on a giant weekend?
Thanks in advance. :)

It just takes a different mind set. Holidays can be a lot of fun, you just need a lot of patience.
I would go early, and launch at Cattail.

It depends who you ask. Some people thrive on crowds and choppy water, if you like that, then thats the weekend to go. I tend to do most of my boating on weekdays anymore. I've only got a '21 Ultra, and we take a pounding on busy weekends....or even regular weekends for that matter. I recommend weekdays if you've got a smaller boat. Just my .02. ;)

i wish i had the pic from the channel last year scanned...
but the channel is basically a clusterfawk... it literally looked like 405 traffic
boats damn near to your left right front and back

I love big weekends. The crowds are fun to watch. We launch at Windsor. We put the boat and truck in the parking lot early and have a friend pick us up. We launch later with no line because the lots are full and we are on the inside of the gates.:D

i used to do havazoo every memorial and labor day weekend. but i got tired of the rough water and the hot weather. so now i go to roosevelt lake in AZ on those weekends and the water is way smoother and the air temp is usually in the 90's. i do havasu in the spring and the fall now when the temps are less than 100 degrees. believe it or not IMO the desert storm poker run is less rough than havazoo on a holiday weekend. come the 4th of july weekend you can usually find me at mission beach in san diego. spring break at rocky point, mexico. thanksgiving and new years = glamis.
lol, i sound like a snow bird. i have been living in the desert way too long.

Last year Windsor was closed at 8. We have a pass, and couldnt use it. Had to launch at the Springs {If I remember right}.
We go on all the big weekends.

Is Windsor a state run launch ramp? If so, what does the pass run for the weekend? Also, are they all over you for noise?
One more... Where can you get a slip??
Just curious, planning on going for Memorial Day.

Its fun just not the whole circus of getting on and off the water, that stinks.

If we're in Havasu for a big weekend we don't even take the boat out. We just hang out by the water at the Islander or just float in the pool. And in the evening we cruise the golf cart over to Site 6 for a little entertainment :D

Cattail is closed Memorial Weekend through Labor Day. Try Windsor. :hammer2:

Windsor is a state ramp. The pass is year round for around $100. No noise problems there. Good luck trying to find a slip.

Can you buy a weekend pass, or do you have to buy the year pass?

As far as I know its yearly only. Best to get there at least by 7 a.m. My freinds waited to long and all the ramps were to busy or closed. BTW if you own a yearly pass doesn't mean you will get in if it is already full.

Theres a edit button at the bottom if you need to change your spelling.:D If you haven't been to Havi in awhile I would say start out on a off weekend to find your way around again.:)
