Oh boy....real emmy material here....:D
Details On CBS’ “Viva Laughlin” And Local Shoot
LAUGHLIN, NV - O.K., here’s the scoop. There will be two days of shooting beginning tomorrow in Laughlin for a new CBS pilot, “Viva Laughlin.” One of the Executive Producers is movie superstar, Hugh Jackman. He will also be guest starring on the show in a role described as “the villain.” It’s a comedy with musical numbers (that’s right. Jackman, by the way, won Broadway’s Tony award for playing Peter Allen in a musical.)
“Viva Laughlin” is based on the British series, “Viva Blackpool” and is about a “small time casino owner” who dreams of opening a big resort in Las Vegas. British actor Lloyd Owen plays the lead, known as “Ripley.” Co-starring as his business manager is D.B. Woodside, who plays U.S. President Wayne Palmer on TV’s popular “24.” One Nevada native co-star is Madchen Amick. She was born and raised in Sparks. (She played Shelley on “Twin Peaks.”)
“Viva Laughlin” is directed by Gabriele Muccino, who received critical acclaim last year for directing Will Smith and his son in “Pursuit of Happyness.” (sic)
Jackman will be using Don LaughlinÂ’s own penthouse at the Riverside Resort as his characterÂ’s office. ThatÂ’s the word from Lloyd Shires, Director of Hotel and Marketing at the Laughlin casino. He told TSN the pilot will also shoot exterior scenes featuring sections on Casino Drive, Highway 95, and showing Laughlin at night. An Indian casino near Los Angeles will be used for interiors of the fictional casino in the pilot.
Maybe some "extras" money available....
